A Great Ending to a Great Series!
Revisado: 11-03-24
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Crittendon series, and this book was the best book yet! The climax of the book had a VERY unexpected twist to it, and the end was a wonderful conclusion (I won’t spoil it!). I continue to very much enjoy his books, and I’m looking forward to the next one by him that I read! The narrator of this book also did a great job! A+++

Great Series with a Great Message!
Revisado: 07-23-24
This book was the most disturbing of the three books in the series, but it definitely lived up to the advertisement of being a high-voltage thriller! The book also had a good message at the end! I’m looking forward to listening to the final book in this series!

Very Exciting and Gripping!
Revisado: 07-20-24
This book was exciting from start to finish! I had a hard time pressing pause! The narrator did a fantastic job! As the mother of a son with autism, the Lena character also resonated with me. I’m looking forward to listening to the next book in the series!

Like a Grisham Novel, but Cleaner!
Revisado: 06-29-24
I really enjoyed this book! It read like a John Grisham novel, but with much better language. The plot was engaging, and I really liked the Edward Mead character. I didn’t particularly enjoy the virtual narration, but it wasn’t terrible, either. The story gets an A!

Good story overall, with an interesting plot and a good message. Slow at times.
Revisado: 05-28-24
I liked this story, overall. The plot was interesting, and there was a great message about forgiveness and redemption. There were times when the story gets slow, but it picks up again towards the end, and it has a sweet ending! 4.5 stars.

Wonderful Story and a Fantastic Narrator
Revisado: 02-09-24
I think this is my favorite story out of the first three books in L’Engle’s series! It was very well-written, in terms of characterization and dialog, and the time travel aspect made it a very interesting and fun listen. The narrator did a fantastic job! A+++

Historia
Ninety-one-year-old Gretel Fernsby has lived in the same well-to-do mansion block in London for decades. She lives a quiet, comfortable life, despite her deeply disturbing, dark past. She doesn’t talk about her escape from Nazi Germany at age 12. She doesn’t talk about the grim post-war years in France with her mother. Most of all, she doesn’t talk about her father, who was the commandant of one of the Reich’s most notorious extermination camps. All The Broken Places moves between Gretel’s girlhood in Germany to present-day London as a woman haunted by the past.

Sobering and Thought Provoking
Revisado: 07-31-23
I found the second book in this series to be both sobering and thought provoking. I was very interested to read about what happened to Gretel and to her mother after the war. The Gretel character was both complex and sympathetic. Without leaving any spoilers, I will say that even though she was technically complicit in her father’s crimes, I couldn’t help but root for her, especially as she tried to save a little boy and his mother, who were on a terrible situation. The narrators in this story did a fantastic job! This story is definitely worth a read, or a listen!

Revisado: 07-02-23
This book was exciting and dramatic, and some parts of it were downright sad! There were also some very happy moments in the book! It wasn’t as fun and light as most of the previous books in the series were, but I definitely enjoyed it!

Revisado: 06-21-23
I’ve read all of the books in the O’Malley series, and I would say this book is my favorite, so far! It was very well-written and suspenseful, with enough humor to make it a very enjoyable listening experience!
