Interesting, poor narration
Revisado: 04-30-25
Very interesting but brief insight into different Native cultures.
Terrible narration by Virtual Voice. AI cannot pronounce words and the tone is so dry. It can make the most interesting subject become dull and boring with its lack of emotion and monotonous tone. Books should be read by humans.

Great information, bad narration
Revisado: 04-30-25
Astronomy 101….excellent book for anyone interested in the basics of astronomy. Book is broken up into specific sections filled with up to date information. Nothing too technical or difficult to understand and no complex math.
Terrible narration. Unfortunately, Virtual voice is so monotone it makes the subject material boring and dry. There’s no emotion which is required for scientific reading. The subject should be read with excitement and enthusiasm, instead this book really drags on and on. Also, terrible pronunciation of astronomy and general words. Books should be read by humans.
Overall great book if you can stand the horrible narration.

Fantastic introduction to sacred geometry with scratch the surface insight into multiple concepts and quotable material.
I will always give a low rating to books read by AI. There are certain words it just cannot pronounce correctly and that really bothers me. Maybe someday it will be able to read as good as a human, but even then I prefer HUMANS to read books.

Empire of the Summer Moon spans two astonishing stories. The first traces the rise and fall of the Comanches, the most powerful Indian tribe in American history. The second entails one of the most remarkable narratives ever to come out of the Old West: the epic saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her mixed-blood son, Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanches.

Not really sure why this book has all the hype that it does. It’s not bad as a history book, but not much of else (imo). Definitely worth the read, but lower expectations.

Aided by the latest archival findings and recently declassified documents and building on the research of the world’s best scholars, Stone and Kuznick construct an often shocking but meticulously documented "people’s history" of the American empire that challenges the notion of American exceptionalism. Stone and Kuznick will introduce listeners to a pantheon of heroes and villains as they show not only how far the United States has drifted from its democratic traditions but the powerful forces that have struggled to get us back on track.

Interesting take on history. American history has been researched and presented by a variety of people throughout, well history, and this is another take on it. This version presents a few different interpretations of things that have occurred in our past, but it’s up to the reader to determine if they are valid or not. This is a good book and presents bold ideas, but don’t take every word literally. Explorer other documents and books in American history and form an opinion on your own.

Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

Historia
Most people know that Oppenheimer ran the Manhattan Project - the organization that developed the atomic bomb for the United States in World War II. Some also recognize the name Heisenberg. Not the Walter White character from Breaking Bad, but Nazi Germany’s top theoretical physicist who had the Allies so worried he would make the first atomic bombs for Hitler that they sent assassins to make sure he didn’t. In 1928 these two were friends working on co-authoring research together; by 1942 they were on opposite sides of an atomic arms race. One of them made sure Hitler was unable to win ...

With a twist
Revisado: 02-10-25
Excellent history with a conspiracy twist at the end. Interesting thoughts from an author who does his research and came to some compelling conclusions.
Book is read by AI. I’ve been listening to books for years and I don’t like this AI transition into audiobooks. There’s no soul or feeling behind them. While the voice is pleasant enough, it’s not a real person. People should not be replaced by AI.

Historia
To contain secrets, American and Soviet leaders created plutopias - communities of nuclear families living in highly subsidized, limited-access atomic cities. Fully employed and medically monitored, the residents of Richland and Ozersk enjoyed all the pleasures of consumer society while nearby, migrants, prisoners, and soldiers were banned from plutopia - they lived in temporary "staging grounds" and often performed the most dangerous work at the plant.

Ups and downs
Revisado: 02-01-25
This is a very specific subject and requires a real interest in the history or nuclear development in both the United States and the former Soviet Union. Very in depth and full of a tremendous amount of information.
The only issue I had is the reader, who does not present the information with the type of enthusiasm this subject requires. Not the best voice and often mispronunciation of certain words. Although the subject is fascinating, the reader made the book made it seem long and boring at times. This is in no way a criticism of the author.

We reside in a world engulfed in radiation. From lighting to microwaves, the world is full of waves and particles that pass through and around us every second of every day. As the sun beams down on the earth, it is constantly dosing it with high levels of radiation. Why, then, is radioactivity so feared? Join me, Madeline, and my friends Anza, Robert, Colby, and Kayiana, as we discuss the role that radiation has played in American society, and why it’s feared by many here on The Radium Files. Revisado: 01-30-25
Vague subject material. There’s so much to the history of the Radium Girls and this little podcast barely gave even a brief overview to make a person interested. I can see why they stopped producing, they aren’t very good. If you’re going to record yourself for a podcast and your reading from a script, do a few practice runs to ensure you do t sound as if you can’t read or remain focused. Terrible podcast.

Richard Rashke leads us through the myriad of charges and countercharges, theories and facts, and reaches conclusions based solely on the evidence in hand. Originally published in 1981, his audiobook offers a vivid, edgy picture of the tensions that racked this country in the 1970s. However, the volume is not only an important historical document. Complex, fascinating characters populate this compelling insider's view of the nuclear industry.

Complex
Revisado: 01-22-25
I’d head little portions of the Karen Silkwood story over the years and was intrigued to hear the full story of a woman contaminated with plutonium. There is so much more to it than just her contamination and death. The investigations and criminal trials that followed are incredibly complex and fascinating. The 70’s were a wild time of little regulation and corrupt corporations. This is an utterly fantastic story!
