Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune is the continuation of The House in the Cerulean Sea, told from Arthur’s POV. TJ’s talk on tour is, as he said, queer wrath. If THitCS is a warm hug, SBtS is a protest rally. It’s only the following year, but the children have grown in their confidence, and Arthur runs out of fu¢ks to give. It is beautiful. And ragey. And it filled my Mama Bear heart with joy for the future of our kids. To be fair, I started crying at the dedication, and stopped with the epilogue. I also laughed some, growled some, and sighed some. As TJ said in his insta reel on release day, “Welcome home.”

Daniel Henning elevated an already amazing story that much higher with his narration. And the acknowledgements were read by TJ himself, so I also cried there. I lied when I said I stopped crying with the epilogue. Oops.

This is a dystopian story where the robots humanity created are now in control. It’s about the found family of android Giovanni Lawson, his human son Victor Lawson, and their companions Nurse RATCHED and Rambo and the newest addition of android HAP, expanding horizons, and being brave.

As usual, TJ Klune has crafted a masterful, heart wrenching tale about beating the odds and finding love in the unexpected. It’s also full of little Easter eggs for his dedicated readers to find. Daniel Henning’s narration is spot on, as expected.

I enjoyed this story, but if you are a reader/listener of mm only, this story is woven together in the same timeline with book 9 of the series, which is mf (as is the rest of the series), which I hadn’t read. So there are teasers and spoilers for that story, but only vague resolution as we aren’t in their POV.

Other than that, I did enjoy this story. Teddy and Jacob did an amazing job narrating, as always (they are why I jumped in to book 10 of a series).

Toby and Cole don’t get close to people. Until they meet and are drawn to each other. As they get to know each other, the heat builds. But they both have to trust that the other will stay.

We also see other characters from the author’s Skins series as they interact on the farm

A story in the summer of the favorite boy band around. The love story is between Ruben and Zach and them not being allowed to be out as LGBTQ, but it’s also about all the boys growing up and learning to stick up for themselves and getting what they want.

It’s also a window into the entertainment industry and how child stars can be pushed into the boxes that make the most money but might not be the best for the stars in the long run. I was cheering the boys on until the end. They have a bright future - the one they want - in front of them.

TJ Klune’s next book, Under the Whispering Door, had me ugly crying like I haven’t for years. I had laughed for most of the first 70%. Then I alternated laughing and sobbing for the last 30%. It’s a beautiful story about living life to the fullest, loving, and loss. I was worried about how TJK was going to give me an HEA, but he grabbed it right at the end.

#contentwarning for lots of talk about death, as one MC is dead.

This was a cute spin on Sleepless in Seattle. I really liked the fact that Hugo’s relationship with his husband wasn’t played down to make his relationship with Matt more amazing. Hugo knew he had hit magic twice.
