Virtual voice is awful.

Virtual voice never differentiates characters. Most of the time I was trying to figure out who was talking, even tho the chapters are titled by character. I won’t listen to another virtual voice book. Blah. Marginal plot, could have been 10 chapters shorter.

Most politically biased book ever

I only purchased this book for book club. I will not be attending the discussion because the one choosing it said it was not politically based. QUITE the opposite, and I’m upset I wasted a credit on it. I should have taken heed from my conservative friends prior to clicking that Confirm button.

The reader does not have a good range of voices. Reading with no inflection was annoying and frequently it sounded like she forgot which character she was supposed to be imitating.

Reader never changed his voice

I’m so confused. The reader never changed his voice to differentiate the characters. The story might be a good one but, I couldn’t tell you definitively what happened to whom.

Narrator too dramatic.

The book was about 3 hours too long. The narrator got so annoying with his overly breathy sentence endings. All I wanted to know was what happened to the money. It was difficult listening to the rest of the superfluous melodrama.

If this wasn’t a book club book, I would have asked for my money back. The reader could not differentiate her voices to make it interesting. Was the plot hypnosis abuse, teen girl abuse , drug abuse or murder? Seems the attempt at multiple plots made for the failure of all. Save your credit for a better book.

This is my first Levin book, I’m only 30 minutes in thus far. The information is certainly spot on, but I feel like I’m being yelled at. It’s going to be difficult to finish.

Ghost written?

This book read like a first time writer who had to include every possible unbelievable situation that he or she could muster up. If this was truly written by Baldacci, I think I’m done with his books, and I’ve read nearly everything since The Winner in 1998.

The male reader does not have enough variation in his voice to differentiate the male characters. It was a challenge to keep track of the 6 female characters because too often they were referred to by first name only, then last name only, then by both names. I had to back up several times to figure out which female was being referred to. Overall the plot offered some good twists and a surprise ending.

The reader has such a sing song rhythm that I could not get past the first chapter. The story might be excellent- I’ll never know.
