Historia
Burnt-out social worker Amalie Holmes thinks she's finally caught a lucky break in the form of a free cottage from her mystery great aunt. With nothing to lose, Amalie heads for the hills, or, in this case, the mountains. Turns out the cottage comes with a big family secret: Amalie is from a long line of witches. She quickly discovers that living in a new town isn't easy, especially when lightning strikes whenever she loses her temper! When an orphaned 11-year-old stands accused of murder, Amalie's social worker instincts compel her to solve the case and clear the child.

The very first DNF for me. Just couldn't do it.
Revisado: 10-01-24
I can't stand to leave a book unfinished, so I ALWAYS trudge through, even if it's almost too painful to do, but on this one? I have to cry Uncle.
I have read and own more than my share of 'cozy' PNR books/series and this one I just couldn't find anything to hold my interest. Sorry

I’ve investigated some pretty strange cases in my life, but I have to say this is a first. A corpse—a murder victim—has gone missing during the middle of an investigation, and no one has any clue where it went. Psy is called in to clear the investigative team and make sure they’re not an accomplice. It’s a four-hour drive outside of Nashville, to a place famous for being haunted, so none of us are particularly eager to go.

Still Hooked!
Revisado: 05-16-24
I have wanted to read these books for a very long time and so happy that I found book 1 available on another platform.
now that I started the series I've plowed through book two and this delightful book three I'm going to keep charging forward onto the next book because I cannot get enough of these characters.
It's a refreshingly different look at PNR for me that is just serious enough to have mystery and Intrigue but has a great love story threaded throughout. that's a super hard balance to achieve and I really applaud AJ for having romance action family the whole package and keeping it tightly woven so the reader remains engaged the entire Journey.
As for the narration: excellent!
I've listened to nearly 900 audiobooks and I think this narrator may be a newer one for me and I will definitely be seeking out more of his work.

I’m rather used to the crazy cases, because let’s face it, most cops can handle the run-of-the-mill with their eyes closed. I’m only called in when the situation is weird or they need to solve the case fast. This case is a little of both. Someone’s attacking women as they get off of work, hitting them in the back of the head. What started as a case of battery has steadily built up to homicide. With three murders, six victims, and no leads, the Clarksville PD are desperate to catch the assailant.

This title has been on my wish list since I signed up for my account but I put it off since the first book wasn't available through Audible.
Now that I solved that issue, I finally purchased this second installment and they are as fun and enjoyable as I thought the series would be.
I plan on purchasing all of the audio books as they are released as I am sure they will all be equally as delightful.

Revisado: 05-11-24
Super happy I took a chance on "Clutch," the first book in the series because this journey with the Drake family has such a sweet ride with adventure, spies, twists and turns and I've enjoyed every minute.
Each one of the books in this series has been great in their own special way but Raven (part 1 and part 2) have really been the crown jewel of the entire collection.
I was really hoping as I read the prior books there would be a back story for Raven so I was especially pleased when I found these on Audible.
As Always, Michael Ferraiuolo's narration is OUTSTANDING and truely gives each character their own voice. Also, production quality is top notch so kudos to the team for putting the audio book together.
Caution: If you try to read this book without having already completed previous books in the series, you will not understand the significance of what this couple has lived through over the course of their relationship....Could you pick this book up and jump in without reading any of the previous books? Sure. But you would be cheating yourself out of an exceptional love story with one of the greatest HEAs I've read in quite a long time.
So do yourself a favor and get the whole friggin collection because it's definitely a series you'll want to go back and re-read again and again.

It's hard enough being an undergraduate student, an intern at Downtown Manhattan's police station, and a bouncer at a local bar. Add her now-ex-boyfriend who recently dumped her for the school's resident bimbo - oh, and she's a werewolf. Mackenzie Grey meets her match when she is kidnapped by the Brooklyn Pack and tossed between Sebastian and Jonah - the Alpha and the Beta. Being a lone wolf in the city is dangerous, and now that the Pack has found her, so can every supernatural being in the Tri-State area.

Strong FMC, good supporting cast
Revisado: 03-21-24
Not bad. I read A LOT of PNR and I really appreciated that the FMC was strong and independent. She wasn't written as a weak, subservient damsel waiting for her knight to rescue her. She works to rescue herself.
Her BFF is a wonderful addition to the cast and the tension with the male characters adds some YA spice.
As always, Nicole Poole did an OUTSTANDING job narrating and should receive 5 stars for her performance 👏
Overall, not a bad series so far.
I'll be moving on to the next installment.

Historia
Are you being attacked by a pissed-off unicorn? Has an angry basilisk slithered into your camp? Is a dragon about to eat you? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this book is for you. Our world is full of monsters. Some of them are happy to live and let live, but the majority of them are vicious jerks. If you want to survive, then you need to know what to do when things go wrong. Don't settle for speculation or the ramblings of a tavern drunk. Get the facts about monsters straight from a legendary hero who has fought just about all of them.

Sad. Lots of potential but did not deliver.
Revisado: 02-26-24
I'm a HUGE L.G. Estrella fan and I can't say enough great things about Fred Berman as a narrator. They generally make a phenomenal team.
That's why I'm shocked to be sitting here writing this review right now, because I sincerely feel this book fell unbelievably below the mark.
I made it to chapter 5 before I started questioning when the action and character dialog would begin.
(If you have read L.G. before, you will understand some of their work gives a lengthy back story to set up the plot, so this extended explanation did not seem unusual.)
At chapter 5 however, I started skipping ahead to see if there was ANY dialog with other characters AT ALL, since the narrator previously mentioned a spouse, I thought maybe that had some relevance to a later storyline, but sadly, no.
it seems this is just an encyclopedia as one reviewer already mentioned.
I hoped there was more substance to this book than just ramblings about monsters and how to kill them.
I wanted an adventure with characters I could cheer and vilians who weren't really all that evil (Timmy 🥰)
So I'll have to give this particular book a pass and hold out for more Attempted Vampirism, Cosmic Delivery, Hungry Dragons, and no-so-evil necromancers.

Historia
Clio might be a nymph living in exile among humans. And she might possess the rare ability to mimic any magic she sees. And she might have just seriously ticked off the most powerful family of spell weavers in the Underworld. But she is not in love with an incubus. Lyre is the rebellious black sheep of the Weaver family, and he's the only reason she survived her recent Underworld "vacation". He's also the sexiest thing she's ever seen. Together, they have to track down a catastrophically dangerous magic - a magic he created, she sort of stole, and they both lost.

Spellweaver #2
Revisado: 01-25-24
For this second book in the Spellweaver Series, it continues where book 1 (Night Realm) left off.
I am a little less impressed by the FMC in this installment. her inner monolog is more irritating, niave and "poor me" in this book, which was very different than how she was portrayed in Night Realm. Previously she was timid and reserved, sure, even niave, But a victim? No, not at all. She took every opportunity to fight back or figure out a way through.
But not this time...
And once again, I felt the storyline was dragging on and I was ready to wrap things up about an 1 1/2 from the actual ending. For those of you reading, that would have been around chapter 23/24.
If you are planning to listen to the Audiobook, the narrators are fabulous as always.
I will be moving on to book 3 of the Spellweaver Series. (There's a secondary character I'm hoping gets more page time. 😁 )

Historia
As a nymph living in exile among humans, Clio has picked up all sorts of unique survival skills. But pilfering magic from the Underworld's deadliest spell weavers? Not so much. Unfortunately, that's exactly what she has to do to earn a ticket back home. Conning her way into the Underworld may have gone pretty well, but now she's got a new problem. His name is Lyre, and he's a sinfully alluring incubus, a skilled spell weaver, and the only thing standing between her and stealing some damn magic.

Night Realm, initial impression
Revisado: 01-24-24
First, let me begin by stating I have already read several series by Annette Marie, so I'm familiar with her writing style and content. Most authors don't deviate far from what they do well or what they know works so I was a little disappointed in this installment in some ways.
As far as the storyline and character development, I think she did a great job and had a new, fresh approach. I'm happy to keep reading and I'm somewhat invested in the characters journey. At least enough to continue to the next book in the series.
What I didn't enjoy was the world the characters spent 99% of the book in. I was ready to move on about 2/3 through the book to a new setting but it just seemed to drag on and on and on and on.
I understand it was probably necessary for the storyline but I felt like there was a lot of "filler" that could have been eliminated to move the story forward.
I can remember thinking as I was listening, "is this a Tolstoy thing? Is she getting paid by word/page?"
At the very end, the characters have moved on to a new environment. I'm optimistic things will move forward at the action-packed, fast-paced style we've become accustomed to from Ms. Marie.
After finishing this book, I was surprised to find this it the 6th book of another series, Steel & Stone, but the 1st of a spin-off series, Spell Weaver.
I may go back and begin the original series (Stone & Steel) first before going on to the next book in the spin-off since I like to ensure I know all the characters and storylines as I move through the Authors world.

My name is Leah, and I am a Cazador. Trained to hunt and kill vampires over 300 years ago, my training became essential once I became one of those monsters. The underbelly of the supernatural world has begun to bleed into the human world, and journalist Rachel Sambrook is asking too many dangerous questions. Unwittingly, she's revealed a conspiracy I had hoped would never become a reality: using vampire blood for human experiments. As I attempt to contain her, she's by my side, and the truth of just how deep the darkness goes is exposed.

Revisado: 01-21-24
Silver Staked was a great break from some of the heavier stuff I usually read but it still has a lot of action to hold my interest.
I really enjoyed that both of the heroines are written as strong women and not indecisive shrinking violets.
I'll definitely be finishing the series.

Well...
Revisado: 01-21-24
Still spicy, more sweet, slow start but once the action picks up, it seems to flow much better. I'm not a reader who enjoys drama and angst so for me, the beginning took a while to muddle through while the triad worked through their relationship BS.
As the book description already mentions, someone threatens Meg and they pull themselves together to take care of the problem.
Of all 6 books in the series I read, this was probably the hardest for me to get through and I didn't know if I would go on to #3.
BUT, OMG, yes, I am glad I did.
To both. Finishing #2 and moving on to #3.
