Historia
Sviska is a man of the shadows, an assassin without any one place to call his own. But in the Far North, he discovers a secret. Magic, long thought lost to the world, is alive. The genocide to destroy every elf, wizard, and sacred being of old is not yet complete. Sviska's masters work the strings of the world and he has been sent for a task he does not even fully understand yet. When at last he feels he has what he has always wanted, darkness falls upon the world.

Not horrible, but also not good
Revisado: 06-29-22
It struggled to keep me engaged, I didn't identify with any of the characters as realistic, and by the 3rd book I was just listening so I could mark it "complete". it may be better if it really grabbed me in the first part of the first book, but I never had any "I can't wait until I can listen to more" moment because it didn't do so at the start. Narration was great, Tim Gerard Reynolds is always amazing, but I wish the story had captured my attention up front so I could really enjoy it.

A bit slow to start, but pays off
Revisado: 04-29-21
The narration was excellent, and while it took a few chapters to get into it, the time really paid off in the end.

Historia
The world watches the sky with trepidation. The insanity of Xenocide knew no bounds, and all will soon suffer the effects he had planned for a millennium. Though none know what is to come, they all know it isn't going to be easy to survive. The Master has a plan, one that can give the world at large a way to escape the onrushing desolation. It may be on the bleeding edge of morality and what he needs might prove too difficult to secure, but the Master asks for trust. Cal and Dale both have their role to play as the world hurtles toward destruction.

The narrator is really that bad
Revisado: 12-31-20
Even if you don't compare with the previous narrator in the series (who is _exceptional_), this narrator doesn't even try to account for gender in voice pitch, often the accents used are both indistinct from each other and uniformly impede clarity and pronunciation. They also are wholely different from the previously used accents, often bordering on irrelevant for the character (i.e. the "goblin" voice is a thick southern drawl, with the associated slowdown in word density, despite being effectively the opposite of the described speed and origins, such as simplified shortened speech patterns, of the goblin speakers from prior text in each book).
The story is good enough to compare with previous, but the narrator makes it very hard to enjoy much of anything written, and is a constant distraction to story immersion.
