ludicrous plot

I didn't like any part of this story. a Duke reusing a deprived uncle and believing himself guilty of his wife's death. yes, he was guilty of trusting his wife to his uncle's care. he then mattress again and stays away from his bride because he thinks he's toxic. Why then marry? When he finally starts to have marital relations he brings by spanking her and leaving bite marks, and she likes it! The computerized narration is horrible. Everyone sounds the same, male or female

trust in God saves the day

first of all, I hated the virtual narration. it had no emotion and all the characters sounded the same. the story has some merit but the villains were too evil. Pacifying the villain by giving him all her money was not so cool. Making people unconscious by hitting them in the head with a pitcher or a vase is not as easy as it sounds but a common gimmick in stories. The heroine is very religious, which I respect thought I'm not religious myself.

A stubborn heroine and jaded hero

I with there had been more depth to the romantic relationship and more character development. Granted, I didn't read the first 2 books in the series, which would have helped, but a good book will provide all the background required. There is a lot of explicit sex, which is fine by me, except for the sadomasoquism

the contrasts between England aristocracy and the American West in late 1800s

I liked this story. the characters are both honest good people who care about others. the hero is a free spirit, not ready to marry and take his plane as an Earl's heir. the heroine is a businesswoman who hasn't considered marriage. but they fall in love and that ultimately the only thing that matters. The characters are very religious, prayng often and quoting the Bible, which doesn't appeal so much to me but I respect people's beliefs

Sweet short regency romances

These are all fairly takes but I'm s sucker for romance so I enjoyed them, especially the second story.

Star crossed lovers clean romance with good ending

I liked the characters and their interactions. There were funny and tender moments and good examples of the prejudices of class. there are some unanswered questions about the heiress and the marquess and what they are about.

dishonesty abound

The characters are constantly holding secrets from each other and lying, even about non important things, which I guess seems necessary for the plot but in reality is silly and frustrating. The hero purposefully maintains a bad reputation for no reason, except to punish himself. The narrator did ok with the male voices, though they all sounded the same, but I hated the heroine's voice and speech.

could have been very good

I liked the heroine, whom I knew from previous books in the series, very much. the hero is suffering from PTSD but the way he reacted to Lucy in the garden, after she had been a good friend to him, was awful. and her decision to immediately push him away and offer a divorce was ridiculous. I don't like this narrator at all.

I liked the characters, with real personalities, and the dialogue. it is a good plot with a sweet romantic hero and a bright strong woman

Another good book in the series

I liked the interesting characters and the love and support of this strange family. the Duke was a sad character and it's nice to see him fulfilled and in love. The heroine's brain power is amazing though a little too much. I also enjoyed the eroticism.
