Historia
Mary Robinette Kowal stunned readers with her charming first novel, Shades of Milk and Honey, a loving tribute to the works of Jane Austen in a world where magic is an everyday occurrence. This magic comes in the form of glamour, which allows talented users to form practically any illusion they can imagine. Shades debuted to great acclaim and left readers eagerly awaiting its sequel. Glamour in Glass continues following the lives of beloved main characters Jane and Vincent, with a much deeper vein of drama and intrigue.

Not what I expected in a sequel
Revisado: 03-20-25
I really enjoyed the first book and was excited for the second. I found Jane annoying, and felt that she didn’t take the lessons of the first book into this one. I have finished it tbh but I doubt that I will. I found her whiny over everything which I didn’t find in the first book. She was constantly (at the point I stopped listening) bored.
I think showing an adjustment period in their early married life is fine but we’re thrown in 3 months late and almost never get fluffy affectionate newlyweds which I’d hoped for. Instead I’m annoyed by both characters almost from the beginning.
It might get better later and I intend to read it on paper because I want to finish. On paper it’s easier to skim through the annoying bits.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

Ralph Cosham is one of my favourite readers of Lewis, and as always did an excellent job with Screwtape letters. I’ve read it several times and found it as I always have eye-opening, and convicting.

Historia
Arthritis is the most common cause of disability in the world - greater than both back pain and heart disease. One example, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), is the most common autoimmune disease, affecting 1% of the US population, and almost 68 million people worldwide. Conventional medicine tends to treat arthritis with strong, gut-damaging, immune-suppressing pain medications, temporarily relieving the symptoms of the disease without addressing its root causes.

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-28-23
I am disappointed with the lack of usable I formation. I appreciate the success this doctor has had but I needed more specific information about the diet and foods I stead of “This is what worked for my mom and this is what worked for others and me”. Also, there are no practical suggestion for attainable affordable supplements. The suggestion is that it only works if you do the diet and also take her supplements that she sells. And the list of supplements is long and expensive. It would be great to have some “If you are a regular person and can’t afford all the supplements take a minimum of ______ and while my supplements are optimum, this brand can get you started.”
Again, just disappointed.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Didn’t finish
Revisado: 01-06-23
I stopped midway into chapter two. While I agree that some of the church’s history is told in a way biased against the church, there was no actual discussion of why or reason, only dismissal. Some of the facts were interesting but given with such a spin that I couldn’t believe them. I was hoping more for a history on the church’s influence on Western Ciz from a non negative viewpoint. The reading isn’t great either (though I’m also listening Dracula read by Tim Curry and Alan Cumming so my perspective is a bit off.)
