They were straight forward & serious!
Revisado: 12-20-24
It was so refreshing to hear a podcast on this topic without constant chatter and laughing between the podcasters.
I loved how they were professional, straightforward, and direct about the case the clues evidence, etc. they do a great job and it makes me feel like I’m watching a TV show. This is radio theater at its best!

This was an exciting suspense experience! I love that it was performed as radio theater used to be performed. It was so exciting. I did not want to watch any TV. I just wanted to listen to it… because it was so easy to visualize! The actors did a great job! The direction was awesome as well!

Historia
If it weren’t for Emma Johnson, Caryn Johnson would have never become Whoopi Goldberg. Emma gave her children the loving care and wisdom they needed to succeed in life, always encouraging them to be true to themselves. When Whoopi lost her mother in 2010—and then her older brother, Clyde, five years later—she felt deeply alone; the only people who truly knew her were gone. Emma raised her children not just to survive, but to thrive. In this intimate and heartfelt memoir, Whoopi shares many of the deeply personal stories of their lives together for the first time.

I loved finding out about Karen Johnson’s young life and her evolution into becoming Whoopi Goldberg! I think similarly to Whoopi and I appreciated her transparency and explaining the way she was going to tell her story… just as she thinks and speaks! She is adorable, and intelligent, courageous and funny! If you love Whoopi you must read this! If you don’t love Whoopi you should read this And you’ll find something you love about her!

I loved this book! I love learning!
Revisado: 03-13-24
I loved this book because I love learning!
My broad knowledge of the history of the scientists and adventures throughout history is very limited, and I love learning about people like Isaac Newton, and so many others . I also, enjoyed hearing what it was like and Britain and Massachusetts during the 1600 and 1700s.

I dislike this book immensely!
Revisado: 01-20-24
I was very disappointed to find out that the main character made fun of people who were in the high Reading group. This book is written only for your gifted students. Anyone else is made fun of, and made smaller by the author as he diminishes all others that struggle to read well. This is a huge disappointment to me because as a teacher. It really hurts our students feelings to read a book like this, unless of course they are in the high reading group!

I gained insight & Understanding into Alan Arkin! I loved this!
I really appreciated learning, and discovering what drove Alan throughout his life’s journey. I enjoyed the whole book. The trainings that he had his wife gave were amazing! I wish I had been able to attend one. They were so meaningful for everyone attended them.
I’m sure the struggles of a career in acting, well remain and trying to support his children.

Historia
Dave Pelzer was brutally abused as a child by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. She considered him a slave - no longer a boy, but an "it". He was physically and mentally tortured and starved. The outside world knew nothing of the nightmare he experienced behind closed doors, and his father was aware of the abuse but turned to denial and alcohol. The abuse only fueled a determination to survive and become stronger.

This is such a moving story - it will touch your heart!
Revisado: 02-20-23
This was such a moving story! David, thank you so much for sharing your horrifically painful journey with us. I’ve been a teacher for 40 years and I know this is a true story. I’m so sorry for what you went through and so grateful that you are shedding light on your experiences - so perhaps people won’t turn a blind eye to the bruises, neglect and abuse they see in children who cross their doorstep. We need to help! This was a well written book that will touch your heart, and it also informs us!

Historia
After World War II, 50 percent of Americans polled said they didn’t believe Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun had committed suicide in their bunker in 1945, as captured Nazi officials claimed. Instead, they believed the dictator faked his death and escaped, perhaps to Argentina. This wasn’t a crazy opinion: Joseph Stalin told Allied leaders that Soviet forces never discovered Hitler’s body and that he personally believed the Nazi leader had escaped justice. At least two German submarines crossed the Atlantic and landed on the coast of Argentina in July 1945.

This was interesting and I learned a lot! At times it was overwhelming because there was so much data collected & shared. Then I calmed down & kept reading. It did unfold in an organized way and I did enjoy finishing the book. The research was well done!
