I didn't know this was about raising children, and I personally have none to raise. However, the wisdom in Mr. Rogers' words about what we all need as we grow and how we relate to emotions and limitations in life is irreplaceable. Every person can benefit from this book by learning about how we can better care for ourselves, not just children

If you think, as this book instructs you to, that everyone around you should not be trusted, and that any one person is always trying to earn power over you, you'll become a schizophrenic, untrusting, and manipulative narcissist. If you want something that recognizes the beauty and power *within ourselves*, as opposed to within our sights of hand, check out 33 Steps to Mastering the Infinite Self or Heroic Leadership. Both way better guides to life

I only ever listen to life changing books, and this one is number one. Cannot believe there's a way to stop fighting our "Ego" - an old paradigm that's only ever amounted in increasing turmoil and unhealthy behavior. The "Ego" is really a collection of mismanaged or unhealed parts that became that way due to unprocessed trauma. I think every human on earth should learn this practice

Many of us unconsciously know of the pain/pleasure principle of motivation. It's very intuitive to learn about because we can all think of almost exactly how it applies to our own lives.
This book does a good job of establishing what that principle is, though it's examples are very boring and can be long winded at times. Narrator does a good job, but is way more prim and proper than anyone I'd like to just have a conversation with. 4 stars
