Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Historia
A tangled Trask Brothers thriller you will want to read in one sitting. He knew. There was only a scrap of red material, but he knew. Don Trask, Lead Agent for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, had no doubt what it was. For five years he had locked away the haunting memories associated with his most difficult case, the unsolved disappearance of a small girl. But now those memories had burst from their vault, and the nightmares that came with them were back. And then there was another, a young boy, and Trask knew who had done it. The same man who had taken the girl. The same man...

Vutual Voice
Revisado: 07-08-24
I have listened to a few other books read by virtual Voice & enjoyed them; pleasantly surprized at the clarity & pleasantries of the voice. This particular story was different & did not hold true. There were many places in the story that needed inflections to demonstrate character emotions. Visual voice was not able to bring Forth the character emotion to give the reader a full picture of the story & it's characters.

Historia
Francis Parkman's journal - written more than 150 years ago, in 1846 - provides an eye-witness account of one of the grandest adventures in American history. At age 23, the Harvard-educated Bostonian traveled the Rocky Mountains, living among the Dakota Sioux. In his journal, he captured the color, spirit, and perspective of his era, as well as the exuberant confidence that was the mark of his time. Frank Muller's dramatic reading brings this captivating record to life.

Devastation Commenced
Revisado: 01-23-23
listening to this journal of an 1846 young man's adventures from Boston to the Rocky Mountains made me realize that people of that generation saw the resources & bount of our country as a bottomless pit. Hearing how they hunted the Buffalo, deer, & wolves almost to extinction, taking only the pelts & some of the choice meats, leaving the rest to rot saddens me. I who was born 100 years later never got to see these animals other than in photos. I am happy my children's generation has worked to bring these animals back.

great potential
Revisado: 11-11-22
this story has great potential but became scattered & bogged down with all the movie references. those movie lines could have been better woven into the storyline throughout the story. the characters would have benefitted from better introductions & descriptions.

Historia
The case seems so simple that Inspector Morse deems it beneath his notice. A wealthy, elderly American tourist has a heart attack in her room at Oxford’s luxurious Randolph Hotel. Missing from the scene is the lady’s handbag, which contained the Wolvercote Tongue, a priceless jewel that her late husband had bequeathed to the Ashmolean Museum just across the street. Morse proceeds to spend a great deal of time thinking—and drinking—in the hotel’s bar, certain the solution is close at hand, until conflicting stories, suspicious doings, and a real murder convince him otherwise.

Morris vs Diamond
Revisado: 11-02-22
I have listened to several books with inspector Peter Diamond as the main character, and now this one with Morris. Both are older Police inspectors and both are curmudgeons. I definitely prefer prefer Diamond to Morris.. Morris seems to be a self righteous nasty b****** With not one ounce of humanity.

Historia
For vibrant, lovely Jean Suttman, the fellowship to study in Rome was the culmination of her dreams, until she undertook an innocent expedition to the ancient Temple of Mithra. From the moment she stepped into the pagan darkness and discovered the corpse of Albert, one of her fellow students, she was afraid. Not even the comforting presence of the perceptive and practical Jacqueline Kirby could erase the fear that was nourished by one small accident after another, "accidents" that came dreadfully close to killing her.

No one is better at surviving than Scarlet St. Claire and making the best out of circumstances beyond her control is Scarlet’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, she’d be the last person on earth, hermitting like a pro, singing along to her CD Walkman, and dancing like no one is watching. Scarlet is clever, Scarlet is careful, and Scarlet is smart...except when it comes to Billy Winston. No one is better at fighting than Billy Winston and raging against his circumstances - because nothing is beyond his control - is Billy’s specialty.

Historia
It is 1941. Wolfgang Stahl, an American spy operating undercover as an SS officer, has just fled Germany with Hitler's henchmen on his trail. He is carrying valuable cargo - the blueprint of the Führer's secret plan to invade Russia. Stahl's man in the American embassy, the shy and sheltered Calvin M. Cormack, is teamed with a boisterous MI5 officer, Walter Stilton, to find the spy and bring him to safety. Their investigation takes them across war-torn London, from the shelled-out blocks to the ubiquitous pubs to the underground counterfeiting shops; and in Cormack's case, into the arms of Kitty, his partner's rambunctious daughter.

I liked the story but for me the narrator spoiled it. the women's voices were done horribly and the emphasis he put on some words to me was inappropriate and very distracting.
