Historia
Alex Volkov is a devil blessed with the face of an angel and cursed with a past he can't escape. Driven by a tragedy that has haunted him for most of his life, his ruthless pursuits for success and vengeance leave little room for matters of the heart. But when he's forced to look after his best friend's sister, he starts to feel something in his chest. Ava Chen is a free spirit trapped by nightmares of a childhood she can't remember. But despite her past, she's never stopped seeing the beauty in the world . . . including the heart beneath the icy exterior of a man she shouldn't want.

Meh story. Blah performance
Revisado: 06-26-24
The story is ok but were we really here for the plot? The male reader was what you’d expect from Alex. Voice deep and sounds powerful. What you think of when the author often references him growling. Now the female reader. Trust the whisper warnings. The breathy whisper reading was overkill and obnoxious. I’m thankful I didn’t use a credit for this book. There was a point where Ava says “I whispered” and I yelled “you’ve been whispering the whole book please.” 🤣 It ruins the vibe especially when you’re looking for a spicy read. Whispering and breathiness does not equate to sexy hot or desirable. It comes off as whiny annoying and weak which maybe was the point but still very off putting. Did Audible or the author review the audio before uploading? If so it was in poor taste. Hopefully the female reader has reviews the comments and take the listeners constructive criticism and feedback to heart for future works. Several times when the chapters switched from Ava whisper speaking to Alex’s booming voice I jumped because I’d had to adjust the volume to hear Ava’s chapters. Anyway obviously I agree with other reviews here when they say listen to the sample before committing to the whole book. If you can tolerate it then download but again the plot is basic man with money and mild kink but not much. I’d give the spice a 🌶️🌶️ out of 5. It was definitely hot but not enough of it. And for the horrid audio we could’ve done with much more of Alex’s spicy narration.

Instant I Do could be Kris Zavala’s big break. She’s right on the cusp of really making it as an influencer, so a stint on reality TV is the perfect chance to elevate her brand. And $100,000 wouldn’t hurt either. D’Vaughn Miller is just trying to break out of her shell. She’s sort of neglected to come out to her mom for years, so a big splashy fake wedding is just the excuse she needs. All they have to do is convince their friends and family they’re getting married in six weeks. If anyone guesses they’re not for real, they’re out.

Perfection
Revisado: 04-20-24
I absolutely love this book. The story was amazing and felt so authentic. It’s so satisfying to read a book about love (especially lesbian love) without the unnecessary drama/trauma and over sexualization. The sexual tension was palpable without it needing to be raunchy. I rarely reread books but this one will definitely be read again. It’s that good. I wish there were a continuation of their story. I love their love.

The MC is absolute trash for the entire book
Revisado: 02-09-24
Laura is insufferable. She seems like the type of person who wants everyone to be as miserable as her but in the same breath doesn’t want anyone to be as happy as her. Her friend falls in love and shares her desires for her man similarly to Laura with her man and Laura’s discontent. Her friend leaves her man because of Laura’s choices then had a conversation with an ex to help Laura’s situation and Laura’s discontent. When her friend is not interested in an ex because she loves her man Laura’s discontent. She tries to sabotage the friend’s relationship by telling her someone unimportant to the plot loves her but when someone important to the plot could possibly catch wind of something very important to the plot she wants to mind her own business. But ain’t that your friend?! Wtf is wrong with her and why would the author make her so conceited. Also her entire personality in this book is being pregnant. Even when she’s only 5 minutes pregnant. Like yeah we get it you’re pregnant. Relax. Everyone else is a narcissist, self-indulgent, ego maniac according to Laura but immediately upon meeting her Laura is suddenly the most precious person in everyone’s lives. Like literally drop everything and make sure SHE is okay. I’m talking create a fictitious gay character who’s suddenly is straight because she’s so special he must have her. We get it she’s the MC but why is she so important to everybody in the book. Oh she’s pregnant now everybody in proximity to her must protect her like she’s some helpless baby bird. She’s an adult making choices. What has SHE done for anyone else? Yeah she’s insufferable this entire book. I hate that I pre-purchased the third book. Might DNF and request a refund insufferable MC. And she is stupid this book. Yeah that moment that to you is so obvious but somehow is the LAST thing she would EVER think. Then she’s shocked and appalled that her stupidity and spontaneous reaction actually irritated someone else that they don’t want to deal with her. I swear. She could’ve been killed of and the story switched to Olga’s POV and I would’ve been satisfied. Olga gave up so much for this trifling self-indulgent drama queen and barely received any recognition. Laura is absolutely intolerable this book. I can only hope she vindicates herself in book 3.

Save your credits. The only tolerable character was the dog. Insufferable, weak, and gullible MC who believes just about anything and questions nothing. But her instincts were supposedly so great in HS. BFFR. 😩 If getting so annoyed with a book you nearly DNF because of how stupid everyone is is the what these people are calling riveting as a thriller… I hate it. Only finished because I spent the credit over a month ago because of Tiktok and it’s too late to get it back. You’ve been warned. Download if you want to be pissed off continuously.

What happened
Revisado: 12-24-22
The series use to be amazing. The character description is completely disgusting. I am sick of the author describing how large Lindsey’s breast are and about Claire being fat. Writing for the male gaze? What is happening here!?! We get it you want us to know that Lindsey is conventionally attractive ok move on. We get that you want us to know Claire is obese and Black but ever time she is mentioned these two details are brought up. Cindy… barely said a thing about her appearance… yet. It’s sus AF but I’m only on chapter 14 so we’ll see.

Katherine Nichols knew she’d had too many drinks, but they were only going a short distance. “There’s no traffic anyway,” Eve had pointed out. And they'd had such a great night out, the two of them. Even now, driving them home and knowing she shouldn’t, seemed almost mischievous. All part of the fun. Not anymore.

A Solid Nope!
Revisado: 05-01-20
This was the biggest waste of a credit. The protagonist is painfully gullible. Listening to this book gave me rage. Pure unadulterated rage. And not because I’m so invested in the book. Oh no! Because it main character is so dang ignorant and gullible. It’s enraging. The voice of Eve is absolutely annoying. Katherine is whiny. Mark is a prick. This book has everything I hate: weak female main character, manipulative and conniving female antagonist, cheating husband, and women fighting over that piece of trash. Don’t waste your credit unless you want to be so pissed off over a dumb book. Seriously.

Historia
Catherine has been enjoying the single life for long enough to know a good catch when she sees one. Gorgeous, charismatic, spontaneous – Lee seems almost too perfect to be true. And her friends clearly agree, as each in turn falls under his spell. But there is a darker side to Lee. His erratic, controlling and sometimes frightening behaviour means that Catherine is increasingly isolated. Driven into the darkest corner of her world, and trusting no one, she plans a meticulous escape.

Meh.
Revisado: 11-12-19
The book is interesting. I found myself wanting to scream at the meekness of the main character, but I believe that was the authors' point. The book has cringy bits such as the overuse of the phrase "way away." I became so frustrated at how many times this phrase was used in this book, it is ridiculous. Anyway, I wouldn't call it a waste of credit because I was intrigued; however, I found myself sometimes zoning out while listening effectively making the book background noise while working. It's not bad, definitely not great, but it's nothing to rave about.
