Historia
Join David as he encounters his eccentric Aunt Betsey, faithful Peggotty and the villainous Uriah Heep, and as he falls in love with Little Em'ly, Dora and Agnes. And then there is old school friend James Steerforth: dashing, daring and seductive. This dramatisation explores the complexities and intimacies of that relationship beyond anything possible in Dickens' day, in an adaptation giving fresh life and vividness to this beloved tale.

Historia
Eleven women went missing over the spring and summer of 1988 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, an old fishing port known as the Whaling City, where Moby Dick, Frederick Douglass, textile mills, and heroin-dealing represent just a few of the many threads in the community's diverse fabric. In Shallow Graves, investigative reporter Maureen Boyle tells the story of a case that has haunted New England for 30 years.

Good story. Kept my attention
Revisado: 05-16-24
The only complaint I have is that the reader didn’t pronounce people’s names correctly. The world has plenty of people named Gonzalves.
It was difficult listening to how many times the word “prostitute” was used, rather than sex worker. It’s understandable since it was first released around the time “sex worker” replaced the term “prostitute”.
All in all, it was a good story that kept my attention

Great listening while driving
Revisado: 04-11-24
I downloaded this book to keep me company while making a 9 hour roundup delivery. It really made the drive fly by. I thought the story was intriguing. When I stopped at a dinner for lunch, I kept my AirPods in a kept listening!! The narrator was really good too. I really can’t stand when men try to do women’s voices and vice versa, but his wasn’t quite as annoying as most,

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

One of my all time favorites!
Revisado: 08-10-22
This is a story that stays with you throughout your day. I found myself thinking about Kai during work hours and couldn’t wait to get into my car and reconnect with her story during my drive home. I try to limit my listening time to my half hour commute to and from work.
The narration was good but the accent sounded forced at times. The story was so good, I barely noticed.

I loved this story!!!
Revisado: 08-10-22
I loved the way she made connections between the victim, criminal and herself. Her raw telling of the truth of her own youth and her relationship with her parents kept me glued. The narration was good, the cadence is smooth and her voice, soothing. It went straight to my favorite list

I order another bourbon, neat. This is the drink that will flip the switch. I don’t even know how I got here, to this place, to this point. Something is happening to me lately. I’m drinking too much. My sheets are soaking wet when I wake up from nightmares of decaying corpses. I order another drink and swig it, trying to forget about the latest case I can’t shake. Crime solving for me is more complex than the challenge of the hunt, or the process of piecing together a scientific puzzle. The thought of good people suffering drives me to the point of obsession.

I couldn’t stop listening. I got all my errands and housework done with Mr Holes in my ears.
So touching and powerful. The way he is willing to expose himself and his short comings was moving. He showed us his vulnerable side while affirming our “hero worshiping”. What an amazing career and human being. Thank you Paul. #SSDGM!

Carson McCullers was all of 23 when she published her first novel, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. She became an overnight literary sensation, and soon such authors as Tennessee Williams were calling her "the greatest prose writer that the South [has] produced." The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter tells an unforgettable tale of moral isolation in a small southern mill town in the 1930s.

Mostly loved this story
Revisado: 03-29-22
I felt that there was no solid plot line. The story was rich with beautiful descriptions and told wonderfully. The narrator was amazing!
I found myself amazed by the depth of character development. I felt connected and invested in most of the characters. Overall, I loved this book

I kept wondering if I would enjoy the book better if it wasn't narrated buy the author and the two awful actors used the be the voices of the two visitors. completely awful....I should have just bought the book and read it. Gary's voice ruined the entire experience.... especially the cumbersome awkward parts, of which there were far too many
