Historia
The world watches the sky with trepidation. The insanity of Xenocide knew no bounds, and all will soon suffer the effects he had planned for a millennium. Though none know what is to come, they all know it isn't going to be easy to survive. The Master has a plan, one that can give the world at large a way to escape the onrushing desolation. It may be on the bleeding edge of morality and what he needs might prove too difficult to secure, but the Master asks for trust. Cal and Dale both have their role to play as the world hurtles toward destruction.

Narrator change not Dakota's fault
Revisado: 06-09-20
There are a lot of complaints about the narrator changing. Tantor and Vikas literally tried to screw Krout over and I think were trying to get like 4x as much so that Krout would not have seen any money come in. Yes, the change is jarring but blame Vikas for this, not Dakota.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

An ending worth waiting for
Revisado: 01-21-20
I will admit, at times this book felt slow. But as it progresses and you start seeing how the pieces fit together, everything starts to become a little hard to predict and it reaches a climax that leaves you unable to put the story down. The people and relationships have so much depth and growth. I don't want to spoil but the ending was worth every minute.

Historia
Archdruid Owen Kennedy and his sloth, Slomo, are off to see the world when Coriander, Herald Extraordinary of the First among the Fae, interrupts to ask for the tiny favor of solving a supernatural murder. That sets the pair off on a trail that leads from Granada, Spain, to London, England and then to Austin, Texas. Owen and Slomo will have to outwit an Irish goddess of wisdom, some nasty spriggans, and streak across the Kew Gardens to find the culprit. They're going to see the world after all - just not the way they thought.

I liked it but...
Revisado: 06-16-19
I've been listening to the IDC for a couple years and I enjoyed the stories and I'm all for seeing more come together over time, but something about the audio was grating on the ears. It improved as the stories went on but it was distracting to listen to. That being said, I want Slomo to get more first dangles.

the ending IDC deserved
Revisado: 03-08-19
I only picked this up for the new Oberons Meaty Mystery and damn, am I glad I did. This novella encompassed a lot of what made the fans of the series, fans. It was funny, heartfelt, and full of delicious sounding foods. I really feel like this wrapped up the series in a way that was better than the last book. I'm really glad I listened to this. It brought me joy to see something after the last Iron Druid Chronicles book and this was Hearne and Daniels are their best.

Historia
What happens when the haggling is done and the shops are closed? When the quest has been given, the steeds saddled, and the adventurers are off to their next encounter? They keep the world running, the food cooked, and the horses shoed, yet what adventurer has ever spared a thought or concern for the Non-Player Characters? In the town of Maplebark, four such NPCs settle in for a night of actively ignoring the adventurers drinking in the tavern when things go quickly and fatally awry.

omgomgomg the DND player in me loves this
Revisado: 02-20-19
I loooooooooved this book! I cannot express the sheer amount of enjoyment I got from listening to this. I play DnD so I found it appealing on so many levels. It's got good character development, wit, humor, and some hilarious oddities that it was something I found impossible to turn off. 10/10 would listen to again for the the first time if I could. I suppose I'll just have to settle for spreading the word.

This book is beyond imagination, BUT-
Revisado: 12-10-18
I want to start by saying I haven't finished this book and I might not. I desperately want to know the ending but one thing that needs to be noted for anyone considering listening... if you were a victim of sexual abuse as a child, this book will be an incredibly hard listen, because while it is a work of fiction, the abuse she suffers is real for many and you might find your own history mirrored to you. The writing is compelling and once you start, stopping will be difficult but you need to determine if it is worth putting yourself through that.

Historia
Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th-century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trades she uses to get by - palm readings, zars, and a mysterious gift for healing - are all tricks, both the means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons Dara, an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior, to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to reconsider her beliefs.

Mediocre right until the end.
Revisado: 12-06-18
One of my favorite authors shared the sequel and praised the book so I immediately went and bought the audiobook. This book went from my being excited, to becoming increasingly bored, then moving towards annoyance, and eventually, like the last chapter, I finally got excited and actually wanted the second book. This novel has the feel of being a first book, which is to say the potential is there but it needs some work and the author seems capable of great things. I do want to point out the the tropes in this are astounding, so you'll have to see past that.
But about the narrator. It really felt like she could have used a more accented voice rather than perfect English rather than occasionally correctly pronouncing something in a middle eastern accent.

The Red Queen is old but the kings of the Broken Empire dread her like no other. For all her reign, she has fought the long war, contested in secret, against the powers that stand behind nations, for higher stakes than land or gold. Her greatest weapon is The Silent Sister - unseen by most and unspoken of by all. The Red Queen's grandson, Prince Jalan Kendeth - drinker, gambler, seducer of women - is one who can see The Silent Sister.

I love his Red Sister series and the Age of Myth series but I really didn't like this one. Conceptually, it's unique, but I found it hard to follow and the main character isn't likeable.
