Historia
According to the FBI, I was considered a serial murderer after three kills. What do they call me after fifty-two? They call me the Silencer. One final bullet would have been all it took to stop me from taking another soul, and I would have been doing Meridian City a service by pulling that trigger. An angel crying for help stopped me, and that night, I took three lives for her. Then three turned into eight. Then eight turned into twenty. Twenty turned into twenty-one. Twenty-one turned into twenty-three.

Holy Fifty Shades Batman!
Revisado: 03-23-25
First as I always, I have to give credit to the narrators. They really did a fantastic job keeping me engaged, even with the Batman voice. Speaking of Batman, if you know the premise of Batman and why Bruce Wayne became Batman... I was a little surprised that the author hasn't been contacted by DC, or maybe she has?
And then there's the whole Fifty Shades comparison. I can't say, I've never read the fifty shade books... I've only seen the movies (which I enjoyed thoroughly)
but the sex in these books.. if I'm comparing to the movies, well yeah... this was a lot more!
I have to say, I always considered myself very liberated, but the first few scenes of sex in this book made me blush, and then it made me bored, and then it made me laugh because I was thinking, "Yup, this is a fantasy story for sure!" ( I'm pretty sure pornstars don't have sex the way these two had)
As I'm reading back on this review, I realize that it sounds like I didn't enjoy the story. This audiobook was little over 19 hours long and I couldn't stop listening! Even with the ridiculous amounts of unrealistic sex, the undertone of Batman, the kind of sort of Fifty Shades thing ( I wish the author chose a different name for main character- Christian, because all I kept seeing was Christian Grey from the movie)
The author was not messing around when she wrote this. Listen to the epilogue, it explains the emotions behind this story. Again, beware of the many triggers. If you're looking for a story with Rainbows & sunshine, a prince & princess...then this is not for you.

Revisado: 03-05-25
The narrator did a fantastic job.
Can't say too much without giving it away, but this book was just filled with family drama in the worst way. The end just crushed me and I'm sure I will think about Merry for quite some time....

Kevin Taylor is an Internet-famous handyman on a mission: Find a house and renovate it in 30 days. By flipping a derelict house in a month's time and chronicling the entire thing on video for his online subscribers, he seeks to become a star. The problems that plague this property will require more than elbow grease to fix, however. Shadows throughout the home are distorted, and an enigmatic trespasser keeps showing up in his footage. Worse still are the hideous voices that issue from otherwise empty rooms in the dead of night.

Historia
They call them wayward girls. Loose girls. Girls who grew up too fast. And they’re sent to Wellwood House in St. Augustine, Florida, where unwed mothers are hidden by their families to have their babies in secret, to give them up for adoption, and most important of all, to forget any of it ever happened. Everything the girls eat, every moment of their waking day, and everything they’re allowed to talk about is strictly controlled by adults who claim they know what’s best for them.

Great story, not enough witchcraft.
Revisado: 02-09-25
First, the narrator she did a pretty solid job. I just thought her exaggeration of a woman going into labor was very different & unique and very loud and almost uncomfortable... but other than that, she did a good job.
I loved every single character in this book. I thought the story was so heartfelt, the way these teenage girls bonded together over their circumstance... however the book has the title witchcraft in it and I felt like the witches and the Witchcraft were just incidental. It did not play a big enough part in this story for me.

A slightly disappointing sequel...
Revisado: 12-20-24
I will start by saying The Exorcist's House is one of my top 5 favorite horror stories. I will keep this as spoiler free as possible, but I will refer to the first book since I'm going to assume you have listened to it as you are now going into the sequel!
First as always, the narrator did a fantastic job!
I really enjoyed revisiting the characters from the first book. Even at 12 hours of listening time, I still felt that this story was a bit rushed. The ending didn't make any sense. From what was done, to then what happened, was very confusing. It felt like it was headed down the right track, but then, no, let's go this way!
I found myself shaking my head and saying out loud, "no, no, that can't be right. not after what went down!" Lot's of "huh, what?"
I don't understand why people that write stories about very dark evil tend to only let the good come through very slightly. There should always be a balance. This is why I gave this story 3 stars. No balance.

This is my second book by author Nick Roberts. The first one was The Exorcist House which is on of my favorites!
This book was definitely not a slow build. It really gets started quick, and keeps moving.
I really liked every single character in this story. As always, I was rooting for the dog!!
This was super creepy and had some really scary visuals.

Not just a story, a full blown experience!
Revisado: 11-15-24
Both narrators did a marvelous job with this book.
I'm going to start by saying that I was pissed that Brom had the audacity to say anything negative about the band Van Halen.. I understand that this was more about punk rock, but come on... nobody talks bad about the mighty Van Halen!! There, I got that out of my system!!
This is my second book by Brom. The first one was SlewFoot, which was just magical and wonderful.
This too was magical & Supernatural.. in such a dreamy, ethereal way. I've said this before in reviews; but the best books for me are the ones where you care about every character, and I cared about every character in this book with the exception of Dick, I wanted him dead immediately!
I find myself with so many questions, but I don't want to say them here because I might spoil the book for someone who's just reading the review... trying to figure out whether or not they want to listen to this book.
I purchased the hard copy of this book because I also wanted to see the artwork that goes along with it. However, in my opinion you have to listen to this book in order to really enjoy the full experience with the live music.
If you want to listen to a story that will pull you in & surround you with awesome music, talk about the days of punk rock, rebellion, family trouble, being misunderstood and then throw in some demons and Supernatural ( and a wretched serial killer) then you are 100% going to enjoy Evil In Me.

Historia
From electrifying horror author Nick Cutter comes a haunting new novel, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and Stephen King's It, in which a trio of mismatched mercenaries is hired by a young woman for a deceptively simple task: check in on her nephew, who may have been taken against his will to a remote New Mexico backwoods settlement called Little Heaven. Shortly after they arrive, things begin to turn ominous.

Hell of a ride!
Revisado: 11-09-24
I always start out my reviews talking about the narrator. Corey Brill did an excellent job narrating this book. He didn't just read it,he told the story, becoming each individual character very distinctively, even the females.
My first novel by Nick Cutter was The Troop. It received so much hype on social media, that I had to listen to it.
I really enjoyed the story, but was a little bit let down because I thought it was going to be a little more than what it was.
That being said, I went into Little Heaven completely blind, and I'm so glad that I did!
The story was like going on the world's largest roller coaster. You have to reach the top very slowly, but once you get there, you go straight down -at a hundred miles an hour and it doesn't let up.. not in the twist not in the turns!
I found myself interested in every single character in this book- even the bad ones. It was supernatural mixed with some cosmic horror and an understanding that sometimes things cannot be defined ...they just are what they are.
I found myself thinking about these characters even hours after I finish the book, and that for me, personally, is the sign of outstanding storytelling... when you still think about those characters and wonder what they're going through at this very moment.
Excellent job Nick Cutter!! I look forward to more.

Historical facts, mixed with fantasy!
Revisado: 09-26-24
First as always, the narrator did a wonderful job. This is my first book by BROM. I loved that he mixed actual history about how so many people (especially woman) were accused of witchcraft. The madness of these so called "righteous" God fearing people was hypocrisy at its finest, and the fact that this really happened is so horrific. BROM takes it to another level by adding some wonderful supernatural characters and moments.
I could clearly visualize every single character. I loved this story so much, I purchased the hard copy, and lo and behold, I find out that BROM is not only a superb writer, but also a phenomenal artist? Well that's not fair! LOL!!
The best surprise is that his artistic vision of these characters was exactly what I saw in my mind...sheer perfection!
If you were ever interested in stories about witches, the Salem witch trials, supernatural, and fantastic story telling, don't miss out on this one! I look forward to exploring more stories (and artwork) from BROM.

The only trigger is, it does talk about someone taking their own life ..other than that it's got it all..real monsters & human monsters.
