Jack Gee, hiking the New Zealand mountains, is blissfully unaware of the Hemorrhage virus sweeping the world. A desperate message from his wife, Dee, alerts him, and he must return to Hamilton. On the way, he is captured by flesh-eating Variants and taken to their meat locker. To escape, he will need to draw on all his experience as an outdoorsman, but first, he must find the will to survive. Surrounded by Variants, Dee is trapped in her Hamilton basement with a group of survivors. With Jack missing, and dwindling food supplies, she must leave the basement, her only defense a katana.

just leave the woke out.
Revisado: 02-28-23
it was a "B" effort but I was hanging in there until the recounting of Dee's pre collapse rape. no reason to include that but the author used it to wine about how unfair and hostile towards wemon our knuckle dragging male dominated society is.
author must be a feminist.
But what the heck, it is a work of fiction. I'm glad I didn't buy this one.

Historia
The French and Indian War: 1660-1763 covers much more than the few years during which the English and French fought over the division of the North American continent in one of the most neglected periods of American history. In this volume in the Drama of American History series, authors Christopher Collier and James Lincoln Collier trace how England’s other rivals for control of America were eliminated over this period until the only source of conflict left would be between the British and their own colonists.

poor accounting
Revisado: 01-29-23
Lope sided, unfair negative treatment of Washington. Also glossed over how the Iroquois took the land from other tribes. No details on the role of William Johnson and all his work with the Indians as England's Indian agent.
No real explanation of why different Indian tribes were pro England or France.
You also make a lot of unfounded assumptions about what the French might have done. Totally unfounded and crazy assertion that the French could have stopped western expantion of the colonist.
It wasn't the removal of a French threat thus the need for a mighty English army to protect the colonist that started colonist really contemplating revolution. It was England's treatment of those colonist and the English officers treatment of colonist.
If this little shallow accounting of the French and Indian War is all you know, then you know nothing.

Historia
Known to history as "Dunmore's War", the 1774 campaign against a Shawnee-led Indian confederacy in the Ohio Country marked the final time an American colonial militia took to the field in His Majesty's service and under royal command. Led by John Murray, the fourth Earl of Dunmore and royal governor of Virginia, a force of colonials including George Rogers Clark, Daniel Morgan, Michael Cresap, Adam Stephen, and Andrew Lewis successfully enforced the western border established by treaties in parts of present-day West Virginia and Kentucky.

Historia
In the sequel to his best-selling World Made by Hand, James Howard Kunstler expands on his vision of a post-oil society with a new novel about an America in which the electricity has flickered off, the Internet is a distant memory, and the government is little more than a rumor. In the tiny hamlet of Union Grove, New York, travel is horse-drawn and farming is back at the center of life. But it’s no pastoral haven.

Historia
In the 17th and 18th centuries, more than 300,000 white people were shipped to America as slaves. Urchins were swept up from London's streets to labor in the tobacco fields, where life expectancy was no more than two years. Brothels were raided to provide "breeders" for Virginia. Hopeful migrants were duped into signing as indentured servants, unaware they would become personal property who could be bought, sold, and even gambled away. Transported convicts were paraded for sale like livestock.

recognizing fact that white slavery predated black slavery in the British colonies that became the USA is important.
in the last chapter author slanders George Washington so I question the conclusions the author makes.

Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

historic fiction
Revisado: 08-24-20
Author makes overarching misrepresentations that makes me skeptical of the truth and honesty of this account. He refers to Jefferson's democratic republican party simply as the republican party and republicans which might lead you to think they were the antecedent of today's republican party. But Jefferson's DR party with its pro slave stance is the antecedent of today's democrat party. He also misrepresents the 3/5 compromise and overall issue of slavery and the constitution
