Guinevere has lived her entire life under the careful watch of her parents who were overprotective given her health problems. Her one shining light through her sickness was a dream of a trip to Italy, her father’s home country that he never speaks of. Now that she’s grown she’s finally taking her much anticipated Italian holiday but things go sour fast. Just when things take a turn for the worst, a knight in shining armor saves the day. Now she’s living every girls dream with a gorgeous wealthy guy making her trip perfection but everything is not what it seems with Raffaele and the truth about her prince will have her questioning everything.

I am so glad she has entered into her mafia era. Don’t get me wrong I love her mc romances but there’s nothing like the dangerous energy of a mafioso who’s protecting his love. These two had undeniable chemistry from the start. I was instantly drawn to Guinevere‘s bravery and perseverance in the face of all she had been through. I was rooting for her to finally get a chance to live and love.

Her vivid descriptions of the Italian landscape and culture had me feeling like I was there. I could practically hear the music and taste the amazing atmosphere (and the food and wine of course).

I am a sucker for a good accent and Dane Anderson absolutely knocked this one out of the park. I loved the chapters from Raffaele‘s POV even more because of how captivating his voice was. And CJ Bloom was the perfect compliment.

Book one left me with so many questions but I am hooked and on the edge of my seat waiting for book 2. I cannot wait for my darlings to get their HEA.

I'm a huge fan of this author and with all the hype surrounding this one I thought for sure I would love it but unfortunately, I did not vibe with this one at all.

But let's start with the positive. I loved the narrators! I think they did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. They kept me invested in the story even when the story itself was failing me. The steam was 10/10. It was an incredibly well done and healthy portrayal of exploring your sexuality and finding someone who matches your energy and is willing to listen and learn with you.

Now to the bad. My first issue with this book is that it feels more like a story about Penelope and Scarlett than Scarlett and Lukas, which is really unfortunate because Scarlett and Penelope have an incredibly toxic and unhealthy friendship. Scarlett is constantly making herself small for Penelope and even sacrificing her own happiness just to avoid rocking the boat. In fact, she spends the entire book essentially looking like the other woman because Penelope doesn't want people to know that she and Lukas broke up. Now to be fair to Penelope she did realize she was being garbage and even had her own grovel which was better than Scarletts.

Okay my other big issue was Scarlett. Frankly she prioritized almost everything else above Lukas. I know by the end she was "in love" with him but she was incredibly self-involved. I understand prioritizing yourself and putting your mental health first but she even put Pen above Lukas MULTIPLE times. Lukas and Scarlett went for month and weeks without seeing or even texting each other. I'm sorry but if you're not that into a relationship that you can go so long without even talking to them I'm not buying that you're end game.

Lukas seemed overall much more invested and willing to be patient with Scarlett for reasons I cannot fully understand. I did not agree at all with him agreeing to keep Scarlett like a dirty little secret just to allow Pen to feel better. That wasn't fair to Scarlett. There were also multiple times he dropped Scarlett like it was hot to be at Pen's beck and call. Eventually he grew a spine but for a "dominant" it was painful to watch him be so submissive to Pen.

Again I love her writing but this story and these characters were just not it. I would recommend picking up another book of hers especially if this is your first time considering reading her. Definitely not her best work.

I couldn’t have thought up of a more perfect ending for the dark prince series than Oliver and Briar. I’ll admit I was a little on the fence about Oliver as a MMC because of his playboy ways and how he seemed to have an inability to take anything seriously but he really surprised me in his book. He’s the definition of don’t judge a book by its cover or by what he wants you to see.

Now don’t get me wrong you’ll still get plenty of Ollie’s classic innuendos and you’ll be cracking up throughout the book but there’s a lot more to Ollie than first meets the eye.

And my poor sweet Briar. This girl has been through it and she’s so strong and resilient throughout. She totally matched Oliver’s energy and was absolutely his perfect person. I loved how she not only rolled with everything but then turned the situation around in her favor. She’s a legend with some of those antics.

The narrators did a fantastic job bringing this couple to life and all the other characters. Each of the side characters had their own unique voices and stayed true to their personalities which always makes the audio more engaging for me.

I’m sad to say goodbye to this series (although I’m secretly hoping maybe there’s one more story left in this world to explore) but I could not have asked for a better couple to bid farewell with. Definitely recommend this one if you are a fan of boy obsessed, dark fairytale retelling vibes, witty banter, fake engagement, found family and a second chance you’ll be rooting for the whole time.

This is exactly what a novella should be. It was short but packed a ton of interesting story. I loved the feeling is kismet and inevitability. This one packs some big feelings and the twist with her grandmother was literally chef’s kiss. She is a true icon. I was so scared that by the end we weren’t going to get our HEA but I should have known that she wouldn’t leave us hanging like that. Highly recommend this one!

The build up was so good for this one but then she literally completely skips their first date and jumps right into the emails again. The emails were excessive and got boring after a while to have them keep reading the email and the date over and over again. I think this was a cute idea but it was poorly executed. Not worth the listen.

Have you ever listened to a book and the entire time you listen to it you just know the main characters are making terrible choices. It’s like a car accident you can see coming from miles away but can’t stop it. That’s this book.

I loved Luna in book one. She seemed so smart and reasonable but somehow in book 2 she decided to make the worst decisions and then is surprised when things go bad.

Knowing this was rejected mates I was not interested in any of the many copious steamy scenes. If anything they made me dislike Maddox even more.

We got practically no Jackson in this book which was a serious shame. The entire purpose of this book seemed to be to mislead the readers, try to make them fall for the wrong guy and then rip the rug out.

Hopefully book 3 makes up for this book. And please give us some steamy scenes of our actual end game couple.

Steamy Workplace Romance With All The Banter!

Chloe is one paycheck away from losing everything. She’s trying to support her grandmother, keep herself out of trouble while living on the wrong side of town and be a consummate professional as the executive assistant to Jason Brewer, CEO of Brewer Air. The same boss she’s always had a thing for.

When she catches wind about a bet between him and his brothers saying he couldn’t get and stay married, she leaps at the chance to help him win to get a share of the money. But she didn’t count on their fake marriage getting real so quickly.

I fell head over heels for Chloe and Jason fast. Their mutual attraction seemed obvious to everyone but them. Their workplace banter was delightful especially when their relationship crossed over into the office. I felt for Chloe struggling through so much alone and that relief of having someone else help carry the weight. Not to mention how much I adored Mimi and Tate’s unlikely friendship. I hope we get more of them.

Despite the fact that I am not a fan of Sebastian York’s work I did still very much enjoy the audio. Amy McFadden really carried this one and was such a perfect Chloe!

Definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for an easy to binge marriage of convenience workplace romance with found family vibes.

Sophie finds out her soon to be husband is cheating on her right before her wedding. Worried about the fallout if she calls it off she enlists the help of Max whose side hustle is objecting at weddings to help people out of these exact situations.

A few months later, Max reaches back out to Sophie to see if she would be interested in helping him out at another wedding. Needing the extra income and wanting to save someone who went through what she did, she agrees. Max and Sophie have a lot of chemistry and the more weddings they break up the more they fall for each other. But as both have been burned and neither believe in happily ever after, where does that leave them.

I am a huge fan of this author, but I had a hard time connecting with this couple. They clearly were perfect for each other and yet they stubbornly fought tooth and nail to avoid it and hurt each other over and over again. This is advertised as a love triangle with his ex who is marrying someone else but the drama of that lasts all of two seconds and it’s very clear she’s not interested in him and he never indicates he wants to get back together with her. Just a weird advertising choice by the publishing house but if you’re anti-love triangle then I wouldn’t worry too much about that aspect.

Overall it was a short and steamy listen that I enjoyed but I just didn’t love this one.

Sweet & Steamy Second Chance Romance

Laina Kelly almost made the biggest mistake of her life going through with a wedding that would have made her miserable. When she flees she has to find somewhere to hide because she’s not just a runaway bride but she’s an incredibly popular singer and her jilted husband to be is an equally big deal celeb. This is how she ends up breaking into her ex boyfriend’s house using the old spare key. He was the one she left behind to start her career but the one she never forgot.

The last person Luke Marshall expected to find in his house was the girl that broke his heart all those years ago when she left without looking back. But here she is and in a wedding dress no less. When she begs him for a place to stay until it all blows over he can’t say no to her but can his heart survive losing her a second time?

I love a good second chance romance and this one did not disappoint. Laina and Luke were absolutely right person wrong time. I love how they both secretly kept tabs on one another and how easy they fall back into things. I also love that they didn’t pull away at the first major hurdle and they communicated and made mature adult decisions.

My one and only issue with this audiobook was that I didn’t love the male narrator. He almost seemed angry or annoyed during his lines especially when he was voicing his family members which definitely didn’t fit with the good natured teasing of the Marshall crew. I adored the female narrator and I think she brought Laina to life perfectly.

If you’re a fan of second chance romance that’s sweet and steamy with a couple you can’t help but root for then you’re going to love this one too!

One of the worst fmc I’ve Read In A Long Time

I have absolutely adored this entire series so far, but this book was a huge let down.

Isiah has been obsessed with Kennedy since their first accidental meeting in the woman's bathroom where he was going to decompress on the anniversary of his mother's accident. This day tends to send him good things and so he assumes this is a sign. But Kennedy is a member of the athletic medical staff and strictly off limits, not to mention engaged.

Jumping forward in time her engagement is broken and Isiah has dedicated himself fully to the pursuit of her. Other girls are a thing of his playboy past. So, when one night in Vegas leads to them getting accidentally married, he isn't giving her up so easily. When her work finds out, the marriage has to stay but with her looking at leaving she wants to keep things as temporary as possible. But soon playing along turns into so much more.

Okay my one big serious gripe with this book is Kennedy Kay herself. The girl is a walking doormat to everyone including her family who treats her like garbage and her boss who wants her gone because of her gender. And I'm sorry but what self-respecting woman not to mention medical doctor makes herself small just so she can keep a position she's wholly overqualified for then refuses to stand up for herself or let anyone else stand up for her. I was looking forward to some big moment where she tells them off but that never happens. Not to mention she was going to give up her entire ambitions for him. Thank goodness he didn't let her because apparently he respects her more than she respects herself. How disappointing and what a terrible message to send to women in STEM careers.

Isiah is the only reason this book is getting the stars that it did. He is an absolutely perfect golden retriever book boyfriend. As far as I am concerned, he has and can to no wrong. His only flaw is his taste in women.

I'm still very much looking forward to reading/listening to future books in this series, but I am hoping we have a return to the amazing quality of fmc from the earlier books.
