Historia
Citizens across the country are fed up with the politicians in Washington telling us how to live our lives and then sticking us with the bill. But what can we do? Actually, we can just say no. As New York Times best-selling author Thomas E. Woods, Jr., explains, "nullification" allows states to reject unconstitutional federal laws.

State Sovereignty
Revisado: 04-04-24
Loved it! Professor Thomas Woods clearly and eloquently explains the role of the States. The compact between the States is what created the US government. Hence, the final arbiter has been and will always reside with the States. This is a fantastic book for all who want to understand the meaning of nullification.

Historia
Since 1897, when Grover Cleveland left office after his second term as President of the United States, eight other Democrats have been elected to the nation's highest office. What differentiates Cleveland from his Democratic successors? He was a "true Conservative." Cleveland advocated limited government, states' rights, frugal economic principles, strict interpretation of the Constitution, sound currency, low taxes, tariff reduction, a balanced budget, the absence of national debt, and a non-interventionist foreign policy. A self-made man, Cleveland believed that if the federal government ...

Historia
A colorful and controversial statesman who served in the United States Senate for a half-century, Strom Thurmond did retire from office until after he was one-hundred years old. Hailing from the small town of Edgefield, South Carolina, Thurmond rapidly ascended the political ladder--Superintendent of Education, State Senator, Circuit Court Judge, Governor, and U.S. Senator. An avowed States' Righter, Thurmond ran as a segregationist Dixiecrat presidential candidate in 1948. Thurmond holds the record for the longest solo filibuster in American history, when he held the floor for over twenty-...

Thurmond the States' Righter
Revisado: 03-26-24
The Author, Jeffrey Smith gives much details and story telling of the Ol' Southern Conservative Strom Thurmond. His "Life & Times" are very interesting and consistent. I enjoyed learning about the Dixiecrat movement but I was hoping for a little more on that time of his career. The book would have received 5-stars however, the author spent too much time on Essie Mae. In fact, I was deeply considering a 3-star because there was entirely too much Essie Mae. If you are interested in learning more about Strom Thurmond, then this title Dixiecrat: The Life and Times of Strom Thurmond will satisfy your interest.

Historia
Richard M. Weaver argues that the decline of Western civilization resulted from the rising acceptance of relativism over absolute reality. In spite of increased knowledge, this retreat from the realist intellectual tradition has weakened the Western capacity to reason, with catastrophic consequences for social order and individual rights. But Weaver also offers a realistic remedy. These difficulties are the product not of necessity, but of intelligent choice.
