Good Lore establishment; lack luster story
Revisado: 03-07-25
Overall I enjoyed that the book established a lot about Kin society and they think and behave, which is something. the faction was really needing. Unfortunately, outside of that, I found the characters and story very boring and difficult to care about. It spends a lot of time re-establishing itself over and over only for what felt like a very half baked climax.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a better understanding of Votann and Kin on a lore level, but would not recommend to anyone else really.

Historia
When Chaos Warlord Mausolus Ebonpyre’s forces annihilate a well-defended citadel, Tahlia is thrown into the bloody arena of Sigmarite politics. Surrounded by uncertain allies and hidden foes, Tahlia must forge common ground with old rivals, overcome betrayal from within, and learn the arts of diplomacy to face down Ebonpyre, a master schemer and strategist. To save Hammerhal from total war, Tahlia must become more than just a soldier – she must become a leader. She must become the Lioness of the Parch.

A Great Debut for a Great Character
Revisado: 08-14-24
while the book was a bit of a slow starter, I can accept that for a story featuring unestablished characters. one it got going though it was a joy to listen to the whole way through. The political parts of the story were well done, the battles were an excellent mix of action and tactical acumen, and the cast was very enjoyable. Thalia herself may be one of my new favorite Warhammer characters; she feels very real, so to speak, like a person that could exist (if we had manticores to ride).
There was one part at the end of chapter 10 where it seemed like they had to rerecord a bit and instead of editing it in they just overlapped it and made the rerecord louder, it was jarring and lazy editing work on GWs part, but was only a few seconds long.
There is a strong chance I'll be listening to this one a second time and I hope we see a sequal

Historia
In the deathly realm of Shyish, the Twinned Towns of Westreach and Eastdale exist on the edge of annihilation. Once in each generation, the hosts of Lady Olynder rise from their tombs to slaughter the towns’ inhabitants, and for centuries the nighthaunts have been turned back, but only after the fiercest of battles. Now, the wizards in the ancient Belvegrod lighthouse have deciphered a prophetic vision that offers a chance to break the curse placed upon the city.

DO NOT expect the Nagash or Neferata books, it’s about Sigmar Worshipping humans.

My favorite Warhammer story so far
Revisado: 06-12-24
The tone of the entire book is right on point with the story. It does an amazing job of sowing distrust amongst the characters in which it's difficult for the reader to determine a right or a wrong, and the ending was nothing short of masterful.

Historia
The nomadic sled-city of Riika-Min glides endlessly along the icy tundra of Ghur, its denizens’ existence entwined with the rhythm of the realm. But something is disrupting the balance of the Realm of Beasts, and when a kraken suddenly attacks, Sigmar sends his master tracker, Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear, to hunt it down. In Riika-Min, Yndrasta meets Njda, trying to guide her people to safety. Njda is at once fearful and in awe of the golden-clad warrior from the sky, and soon learns how dangerous it can be to get between a hunter and her quarry.

Not Enough Yndrasta
Revisado: 06-05-24
Overall I would say the book is worth listening to, especially if they make more Yndrasta books as Yndrasta herself feels very well written and is the best part of the book for me. Unfortunately she is barely in the first half of the story and not the character you follow throughout the story. Instead, you will be following Njda (Nē-duh) of the Suku clan, who I found borderline insufferable at times. I came to enjoy her clan mates well enough but I just couldn't bring myself to like her.
That said, all the build up did lead to a much more enjoyable second half of the book and a very good ending which at least made me appreciate Njda's role more, even if I never got to liking her.
performance wise I have to give 5 stars though. the narration was excellent, the read aloud dialogue felt natural and full of personality, and Yndrasta now has a canon voice for me. Superb work on this side of things.

Historia
When the necrons rise, a mining planet descends into a cauldron of war and the remorseless foes decimate the human defenders. Salvation comes in an unlikely form - the Death Korps of Krieg, a force as unfeeling as the necrons themselves. When the two powers go to war, casualties are high and the magnitude of the destruction is unimaginable.

Excellent representation of the Kreig
Revisado: 12-15-23
This book really nailed down the Kreig in a perfect manner while also going a little bit into the "why they are the way they are."
