Another fun book by one of my favorite authors. This one will be added to all her other books and be listened to over and over. I have missed Jane and Sinclair so this was a nice treat. Loved the storyline. Both narrators did their usual wonderful jobs with their narration. Can't wait for the next one.

Okay, really?

It is funny to that multiple reviews list the narrator as the reason they didn't like the book. While he isn't my favorite of her narrators, I don't think any of them could have made this heroine likeable to me.

During the times when men had to leave to fight, you give us a spoiled, weak heroine who is so selfish she can't bear to be alone. She has to put herself in danger so her husband has to save her rather than concentrate on what is important.

After getting in trouble multiple times when she didn't listen, she has to be defiant one more time and get herself kidnapped. Strength isn't doing what you want without regard to consequences, this is not a strong heroine. She is a whiny, weak, spoiled princess who throws tantrums when she doesn't get her way. In real life I would bet money she would have died an early death.

I am just finishing this listen but it was a struggle. I was constantly yelling at the narrator when Chloe made idiotic and immature choices. Seriously how the hero was still in love with her in the end is beyond me. She had no faith in him and his abilities and was always trying to "save" him. Her husband is a knight, but no he couldn't possibly take care of himself and an army couldn't save him. All of her help just caused more trouble in the end. Loved the narrator though. He kept me as invested in the story as possible given my level of frustration with the idiocy of this heroine.

After first reading this series I decided to purchase the audiobooks. I have loved them all and wasn't disappointed until this one. Nicole is a great writer, but the female narrator did a horrible job portraying her wonderful characters. She made it sound like all of them other than Kennedy and Sawyer were slow country bumpkins, nothing like most central texans in this area. After being introduced to those characters in the other books it was disappointing to hear. Unfortunately, if this had been my first experience with Nicole's books I wouldn't have read any further. Fortunately it wasn't and I get to enjoy all of her books.
