This was an enjoyable listen. I normally listen to audiobooks while driving, and a few times I had to pause it because I was on the edge of my seat, not sure what to expect, and realized I needed to pay more careful attention to the road. That is rare in romance plots, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the depth of the characters and their growth throughout the story. I w only have never known the audio was artificial, either, except a couple places where the voice dictates the punctuation “dash.” It sounded so natural! Overall a fun listen with charming characters who I will visit again soon. Well done!

I loved the premise and the characters. The voice acting was excellent. And who doesn’t love a Cara Bastone romcom? She’s one of my absolute favorites for her creativity and voice, and she always gives a fulfilling ending that never seems rushed. This is going in my favorites stack.

I loved the main characters. Actually, I loved all the characters in this story. I was in need of a clean, feel-good romCOM to make me laugh, and I heard from a friend that this one was hilarious. It did not disappoint! I laughed out loud through the book. Becca Kinzer writes amazing comedy scenes and can’t-keep-from-smiling callbacks. I loved that there was no giant fight scene, as I really wanted something lighthearted. Perfect read for a sweet and silly escape.

This was my first title by Jamie Ogle. The audiobook version was excellent, and I plan to purchase the paperback for my favorites shelf. I was deeply moved by the characters and their plight. Never have a read an account that made the Christians of 3rd century Rome more accessible. The story is a beautiful letter of love to all our fallen brothers and sisters and the God we serve. The imagery in this book is expertly aimed at the heart of each reader. With Iris, we experience her blindness, her fear and the growth that not only brings her to the one true God, but keeps her standing in the face of cruelty and loss. With Valentine: I was encouraged to be unwavering in faith with his example of finding peace and courage that only God can provide. This book is important, and I will shout it from the rooftops. Read it!

Cute Christmas romcom with mutual healing

I loved that both characters had issues they were healing from and were mutually hopeful at helping each other. I laughed out loud in a public place during a very well-done scene… the things kids say. I thought the romance built a bit quickly and the ending left me wanting more, but sometimes that is a good thing. For a quick, clean Christmas listen that hits all the right holiday romcom notes, it is going in my “listen again” list. I highly recommend listening at 1.3x speed.

I enjoyed this audiobook. It was simple and sweet. I loved the realistic way that healing from loss of a loved one was portrayed while still keeping the story lighthearted. The way the lead male character was voiced, he sounded like he was a few decades older than I think was intended, which made it a little off-putting at times. The voice actor was amazing with his ability to ace a bunch of different voices, but the one chosen for the main male lead was an odd choice. Overall, though, I was able to look past that and enjoy the story. The ending was very abrupt, and I would have loved to see an epilogue after being so invested in the characters.

I loved it. I couldn’t put it down. The dialogue in this was so realistic and so well voiced, it genuinely felt like overhearing the cutest conversation. I felt like I was sitting on a bus next to Ms. Shirley listening to these two and grinning all along at how stinkin cute they are. Such genuine and hilarious conversation, too. They were so real and unrehearsed, so much so that I cannot believe - no, I refuse to believe - that these characters are imagined. This is such a cute story with endearing characters. Aside from a few curse words here and there, it was also really clean, which is refreshing. Give it a listen!

I cannot say enough about how I loved this book. My words won’t do it justice. From the beginning, I was in awe of the author’s style, most particularly the humor and beauty of the internal voice of the character bringing me into her world. I don’t think I have ever fully understood and cared about every single side character to this extent in a romcom. I also have never laughed as much or worried so much over where the little pieces of the story might fall for the MC. The romance was so sweet, clean, deep, genuine, and realistically character-driven. But this was more than a romcom. It was so smart, researched, and a love letter to home, family, friends, dreams, and change, I knew it before I got to the ending- that this was going up on the pedestal with my all-time favorites. But the ending…it sealed the deal. Read this book!

Not what I was expecting

I enjoyed the premise and the writing style but noticed some inconsistencies and really repetitious inner monologue. Sticking with the beauty and the beast storyline, the first half dragged a bit and I was already considering putting it down since it lacked the banter I enjoy in a YA romcom. This, combined with the blazing hints that the main male love interest was bi, was quite a turnoff. By a little over halfway through the book, all of the men were heading toward being bi, which seemed really forced and unusual for the books in this style and genre. It was not what I was expecting from the cover and description. I had to put it down.
