When mystery author D. B. Ziegler is late delivering her book, Abi Schore steps in to help. Surely she can give her favorite author moral support over the holiday break and get the manuscript to her boss at Tea & Sympathy Publishing in time for the new year. When Abi shows up on Ms. Ziegler’s doorstep bearing holiday treats, she’s met by the author’s handsome grandson Dov, who reveals a startling plot twist. His grandmother isn’t able to finish the book and Dov promised he’d complete it so fans won’t be disappointed—a task that’s harder than he ever imagined.

Sweet, Delightful Holiday Fun
Revisado: 11-24-24
Great way to get your holiday rom-com binge going. These characters seem to be well-adjusted folks who find each other in a light-hearted rom-com. The narration was well done.

Surprising Twists-Sad but Trimphant
Revisado: 07-29-24
This book had many sad turns but the characters kept moving forward. It's a story about how the Lily, Iris, and their mother Elsa's childhoods molded them and how they self-corrected paths they didn't initially choose. It's a life lesson wrapped up in a missing person mystery. It unfolds beautifully without being forced.

Easy to Get Lost in the Excellent Writing
Revisado: 06-02-24
Don't let the 17 hours fool you. This book quickly moves, drawing you into this unpredictable world. I had never read a Francine Rivers book, so I didn't know what to expect. Oh, my goodness. Ms. Rivers masterfully weaves a compelling story that is more about life uprighting itself than about the two characters' love. Parts of this book will break your heart, and others will send it soaring. Ms. Forbes manages to convey her religious point of view without being preachy. I'm not particularly religious, but I appreciated her approach to the story.

Steam Balanced with Interesting Dialog
Revisado: 06-02-24
I listened to all of the books in the McClain Brothers series. This book had the most substance. Yes, everybody falls in love quickly; that's the genre. However, I feel the characters in the other books don't talk about much of anything. In this book, they speak about their place and space in the world. The author sprinkles in a "hotep" worldview, which I found interesting. I absolutely did not enjoy how Neil's character spoke to Sage when he became frustrated or concerned. His dialog became mean and condescending at those times. I believe the author missed an opportunity to show that his character was still wrestling with some things where he needed to heal. Great narration!

Typical Story with Interesting Characters
Revisado: 06-02-24
Surprisingly, the emotional exchanges between these characters had some depth. Jonah's character is anchored by a deep family orientation and an ability to relate to the love interest beyond her looks. Samyah [sp] is not flaky and is pretty sturdy, too. The story boils down to the typical guy who has tons of money but has not found a love story. The dialog seemed a bit cumbersome in spots. Unfortunately, the author uses complex words in spots for no apparent reason, which I found distracting. Also, why does Jonah speak French to the waitperson when they're in a Spanish-speaking destination? Overall, it's worth a listen.

I've been in love with my best friend for as long as I can remember. I tried to tell her in high school, which royally backfired. Ten years hasn't changed things, but now I'm finally ready to lay it all out on the table. The only problem? She's got her sights set on someone else. I made the mistake of letting her go once before. This time, I'm going to prove that the only guy she needs is me.

A Sweet Book about Unrequited Love
Revisado: 06-02-24
Finally, a book about two people falling in love who actually know each other. The characters are well-developed and realistic. There are some laugh-out-loud moments, along with enough steaminess. I look forward to the next book. But I will miss Brenn.

Loreli is one of Beverly Jenkins' most distinct characters. She's bold, unconventional, and funny. She's the teacher in this spicy romance. Jake and she don't get along at first. However, Jake comes around to Loreli's tutelage.

My Favorite and First but not Last Jenkins Book
Revisado: 05-26-24
I call Indigo my gateway book to Beverly Jenkins' work. Trust me. After you listen to this book, you'll crave more of Ms. Jenkins' storytelling skills. I fell in love with these characters and was a bit sad when the story ended. Ms. Jenkins knows how to write rich characters with depth. Ms. Jenkins also weaves well-researched history into what's affecting the characters. You'll laugh, cry, and get caught up in the spiciness mixed with a heart-stopping turn of events that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Bravo!! Unexpectantly Captivating
Revisado: 05-22-24
The author packs character development, humor, and family and romantic drama into this surprising tale. The content isn't fluffy like so many romcoms. The pace of the book is tight and fraught with plot twists. Bonus: The other subplots are as interesting as the unfolding love between the main characters.

Interesting and Sometimes Sweet
Revisado: 05-22-24
This book is my first from this author. So, I didn't know what to expect. Overall, Amanda & Marcus seem like regular people trying to carve out a good life for themselves. This title is worth a casual listen.
The character development of the main character, Amanda, captured my interest but occasionally fell flat. Unfortunately, the emotional development of her love interest seemed shallow and frustrating at times. Marcus' dilemma became repetitive and a bit boring. I stuck it out because the narrator did such a great job with the characters, particularly Amy. The book also had some laugh out loud moments.
