A skeleton crew of desperate men looks to capitalize on a handsome reward offered by an eerie outsider. But when they brave the harsh winter waters to transport an ominous crate, their food supply mysteriously spoils, forcing them to stray off course. After several weeks of dead winds, absent sunlight, and diminishing rations the crew begins to question their faith and each other. As past lives of the crew are put on the chopping block, blood begins to spill. Has starvation driven them to delirium? Have they fallen out of the Lord's good graces?

Nautical Horror…YES PLEASE!
Revisado: 05-26-24
If it’s a story of the Sea,
then it’s a story that I NEED!!!
Nautical Stories are my ultimate favorite.
Fiction or non, I can never get enough.
Especially when it comes to Nautical Horror.
THE WHITE BISHOP was abSEAlutely SINsational!
It has all the things I love about Nautical Horror.
A jumbled mess of a crew hired to deliver a mysterious cargo and reap a bountiful reward…
But this maritime adventure turns into a “who done it” mystery at Sea, quickly turning sinister with dwindling & rotting supplies, deteriorating conditions and moments of pure madness, leaving us with a brutally gruesome conclusion.
This story had me feeling sea sick, claustrophobic and anxious….thrown overboard with only a raft of utter despair and a “Not so Happily ever after” on the horizon. But it’s okay, because All I see are STARS ✨

Historia
Summer, 1989. It is a time for splashing in the lake and exploring the wilderness, for nine teenagers to bond together and create friendships that could last the rest of their lives. But among this group there is a young man with a secret—a secret that, in this time and place, is unthinkable to his peers. When the others discover the truth, it will change each of them forever. They will all have blood on their hands. Odd Man Out is a heart-wrenching tale of bullies and bigotry, a story that explores what happens when good people don't stand up for what's right.

Ohhh…man!!! This one hurt like a mother….
Revisado: 07-25-22
The topic of this story is a very sad and what makes it sad is that this stuff really does happen!
I personally know what it’s like to have someone you care about being brutally bullied for being who they are. As early as 5 years old, I have been sticking up for my brother and fighting for him. I remember throwing a rock at some boy’s forehead for making my brother cry.
At that age I didn’t know my brother was gay. I just knew he was my brother and I love him!
I would never ever be able to sit on the sidelines and watch as someone bullied him! NEVER!
This story is very brutal but we need stories like these. They can educate people on what to do or what not to do. It’s heartbreaking to read so please, beware.
This is my third James Newman book and he has not disappointed. And the audiobook was done right!
Thanks to Encyclopocalypse Publications I was able to listen to the audiobook of ODD MAN OUT by James Newman and narrated by Curtis Michael Holland.
I’m an avid audiobook listener and I have an appreciation for the production process and the voice actors behind the narration.
Reading books are awesome, of course, but sometimes it’s more convenient to listen to an audiobook. I actually get more emotional listening to an audiobook, especially when it’s done right! All it takes is a great story being read by a great narrator!

Revisado: 07-24-22
My decision to learn about and read stories of the Cthulhu Mythos has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I am so grateful to all the writers who have kept the mythos alive and who continue to do so now and in the future. I’m completely OBSESSED!!
When I started my Mythos Journey, a couple months ago, I was told to avoid reading Brian Lumley’s work. I don’t understand why…. This was my first time reading (listening to) Lumley’s work and I think these stories were great!! I really enjoyed the Titus Crow story “Lord of the Worms”. It was a fine contribution to the Cthulhu Mytyhos!
I plan on reading more of Lumley’s books…. No, wait…
I plan on listening to his audiobooks because they are narrated by my number one favorite narrator, Joshua Saxon! I believe he narrates all of Lumley’s work!!! So, Hell yeah!!!

Sometimes the world is a very dark place. You know the magic is still out there, but it feels distant or displaced. Voices in the Darkness is an attempt to create a link, to bring some of those voices together in a single work of art. Six award-winning authors lent their talent to this work. The stories are unique and dark, filled with wonder and emotion.

Great stories narrated by fantastic voices!!
Revisado: 07-02-22
Lately, I’ve been reading & listening to a ton of short story collections…, and I found myself really enjoying them in audiobook form, especially , when the collection is narrated by various voice actors/narrators.
Voices in the Darkness has 6 stories, all narrated by a different person. All 6 stories are superb, but I do have a couple favorites:
• Pursuivant Island by Kathe Koja
• Baggie by Elizabeth Massie
• La Belle Époque by Brian A. Hopkins
Joshua Saxon, the narrator for Kathe Koja’s Pursuivant Island did an EXCEPTIONAL job!!! I’ve listened to several audiobooks narrated by Saxon and he has so easily become one of my top 5 favorite narrators!! He’s so damn good!!!

My gahhhh… that was BRUTAL AS FU€K!!!!
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when choosing this book to read, and to be completely honest… I’m really frickin’ happy that I didn’t have a clue…. 😅
I was super tense the entire read and absolutely disgusted! You know, all those things that you want to feel when reading horror.
Left To You is fast paced and in your face!! It’s a top-notch, cringe-worthy Horror story and I’m really looking forward to reading more of Volpe’s work!!

Submerge yourself in the worlds of this gifted storyteller, and you'll not want to come up for air.

Impressed and OBSESSED!!
Revisado: 05-10-22
“There was something about * being a survivor *… something instinctual… something that said ‘pass on your genes, quick’. And, what better celebration of life, than sex. What better way to say, “I’m still here, goddamn it!”, than screaming your rage in orgasmic release.”
Wow! So, this is my first time reading/listening to Brian A Hopkins, and the thing that drew me to the collection was
1.) Ocean stories, which I’m a huge sucker for!! And 2.) It’s narrated by one of my most favorite voice actors, Joshua Saxon.
I already knew the narration was going to be superb, but as far as this collection goes, I didn’t know what to expect.
Well…. It was absolutely Ahhhhmazing!!
A TOP NOTCH Collection, fo sho! And the narration by Joshua Saxon was *chef’s kiss” immaculate! He just solidified his place in my “Top Ten Favorite Narrators” List. He does an incredible job illustrating emotions, especially dread!!! He can go from absolutely chipper to utter despair in an instant! He’s just phenomenal, and I will listen to anything this man narrates!
This collection of salty stories has elements of horror & fantasy. Hopkins ability to capture emotion through his words is exceptional. There were moments that pulled at my heartstrings & moments where I felt a terrible uneasiness.
I loved every single story in this collection! Every single one, but…if I had to choose faves it would be:
* Diving the Coolidge
* North
* The Promised Hour l & ll
* Crocodile Gods
* Wisteria
* The Baited Night
* Wrinkles At Twilight
Now that I’ve discovered Brian A.Hopkins, I’m ready to devour everything he’s written. Seriously!! I am impressed and obsessed! So much so, that I reached out to Mr. Hopkins hoping to buy a signed edition of Salt Water Tears. I’m delighted to inform you that I have a signed copy coming my way!!! 🥰

Historia
When the body of Hunter Gearhardt washes up on the banks of a seasonal river outside of Pomacochas, Peru, with only samples of vegetation, a handful of feathers, two black- and gray-streaked rocks, and a golden headdress of indeterminate origin in his possession, his grieving father launches an expedition to determine how his son died. The party uses these clues to divine Hunter’s route into the jungle, where they find a surviving offshoot of a primitive tribe, long thought to be extinct, and something far more sinister, something that’s been able to avoid discovery for eons for one simple reason: No one leaves the rainforest alive.

Historia
The modest lakeside resort in the small town of Blissful Point, Massachusetts, once offered an alternative to the crowded beaches of Cape Cod. Katherine lived there for years with her husband, James, a poet, and their cat, Barney. They ran the small resort during the hectic spring and summer months, then hunkered down and endured the often brutal and desolate winters in relative isolation. Their lives were uncomplicated, happy, and quiet–or so Katherine thought–until one summer morning when the dead body of a young boy is found floating in the lake.

This one fell short…
Revisado: 05-07-22
I love Greg Gifune’s writing style. Even with A View from the Lake, but the story itself was not my fave.
The characters weren’t interesting. The plot was… hmmm….I don’t even know. It felt repetitive, like it kept cycling in circles, leading no where. There was no build up or climate nor were there any twists or shocking moments. And the conclusion….was there one??
I don’t know. I’m so confused!
I ended up having more questions than answers.
I’m bummed that I didn’t like this one. But hey, there’s five other Gifune books I’ve read and loved, so I know there will be more in my future!

GUTTED, Gosh dang it!!
I love this book so much....even though I am emotionally wrecked!
This book is definitely one of my Top Ten most favorite coming of age stories!!
I loved the main character and his relationship with the “beastie”! Seeing them both grow and evolve over time. I loved meeting all the new characters throughout the story, even though they played such a small role.
I listened to the audiobook and I gotta say, the narrator, Scott Thomas, did a phenomenal job. I think I enjoyed the story even more with his narration. You can feel the emotion in his voice!
I simply adored it all! EVEN THAT ENDING! 😅
Jeff Strand will always be a “go-to” author for me. He does horror & humor so well!! I Can’t wait to listen to more of his books!
