Historia
Golden Globe-winning actor Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) performs Truman Capote's masterstroke about a young writer's charmed fascination with his unorthodox neighbor, the "American geisha" Holly Golightly. Holly - a World War II-era society girl in her late teens - survives via socialization, attending parties and restaurants with men from the wealthy upper class who also provide her with money and expensive gifts. Over the course of the novella, the seemingly shallow Holly slowly opens up to the curious protagonist.

One of the very best!

Capote is such a good writer and Michael Hall was perfect as the narrator. Would give 10 stars or even a hundred.

Strange Book!
Revisado: 10-23-22
I guess I'm alone in that I love Heather Wilds as a narrator. Her segment of the book, however was rather creepy and confusing. The book was too much of a fantasy for my taste.

Revisado: 12-05-21
The mysteries in this series are short but complete and such fun to listen to. Nathaniel Parker brings each and every character to life. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Revisado: 05-09-21
It should be a red flag when ALL the reviews are 100% positive. The meditations are nothing special; most have annoying music. I never found anything I would call a story, which is what I really wanted. A waste of time and a credit.

Revisado: 09-03-20
I just finished listening to the audio book of Melania and Me. I really enjoyed it - most of it is details about the author's friendship with Ms. Trump, dating back about 20 years. The fact that eventually Melania declined to help when the Trump administration threw her under the bus for the inauguration financial fiasco should surprise no one - "a Trump is a Trump is a Trump."

Historia
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

It's like a radio program - works well with Emma
Revisado: 08-11-20
Of course much of this in not Miss Austen's words but I still enjoyed it. Some of the explanatory narration is an interpretation of the original - their version or why and how things happened, I would say it's more true to the original than the various video versions. It's about half the length of the original. I do recommend it as a fresh and delightful version of the original story.

My Favorite Version of Persuasion
Revisado: 08-01-20
I have listened to this book with several different readers and this is my very favorite. Mr. Page brings out the humor and satire and is able to do even annoying female voices without becoming shrill. The story is my second favorite of Jane Austen's books - Emma being the first. I have listened to this version of Persuasion several times and enjoy it more each time.

Historia
Having been booked to give a talk at Fethering Library, successful author Burton St Clair invites his old friend Jude to come along. Although they haven't met for 20 years, Jude is not surprised to find that St Clair hasn't changed, with his towering ego and somewhat shaky relationship with the truth. What Jude hadn't been suspecting, however, was that the evening would end in sudden, violent death. More worrying, from Jude's point of view, is the fact that the investigating police officers seem to be convinced that she herself was responsible for the crime. With the evidence stacking up against her, Jude enlists the help of her neighbour Carole.

The Best in a Great Series
Revisado: 05-10-20
I've listened to almost all of the Fethering books and this is the best one yet. I was looking for something light to read at bedtime but this turned out to be a (virtual) page turner. I listened to it as I did my household chores, I listened to it on walks, and sometimes just sat and listened to it - unusual for me.
Simon Brett is a great reader as well as a great writer - his performance is at least as good as the other excellent narrators for the series. I highly recommend The Liar in the Library.

A True Gem!
Revisado: 04-18-20
I bought this book because David Thorpe is one of my favorite narrators and I was looking for a cozy mystery to read at night. I'm not sure this is really a 'cozy' - it's not silly and inane like most in this classification seem to be - It's fairly serious but not gruesome, violent or gritty. The characters are lovely and Mr. Thorpe's interpretation of them is amazing. The writing is beautiful, the mystery a true puzzle, one I was unable to solve. I have listened to the book twice already; it's that good.
