Historia
Sunny never expected to find herself owning a centuries old silk mill in the shadow of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains or becoming a half-sister to a 10-year-old named Bailey. Once the shock subsides, she plans to cash in and head back home. But the overgrown greenhouse she finds on the property calls out to the gardener in her, and she senses Bailey's need for nurturing too.

Low angst easy listen
Revisado: 04-11-25
Great for when you're in the mood for a nice and easy listen. The scenery is well described, lots of it was about the lovely location and the history. It's low angst so not a ton happens, but I still enjoyed it.

Historia
It is said that the Neverseen King comes for a bride every hundred years. I thought it was only legend—until he came for me. I am one of twelve assassins forced to compete for the hand of our unseen king, who I'm beginning to doubt is even human at all. Why he needs a bride, much less one who wields a blade isn't any of my business. All I'm trying to do is get out of here with my life and my heart intact. I don't want to care about the mysteries I begin uncovering about the king, about why he never shows his face, about his palace that turns into a nightmare after dusk.

Very rich and vivid! The characters have a lot of depth and the story was so well told. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

Hate to leave a bad review. The plot had some potential, but the way it was written was so boring. It lacked any depth, and it was hard to care about the characters. Something about it also felt immature, like it could have been written for teens. Just because it's clean doesn't mean it has to be bland and one dimensional. We may not be looking for steam but we still want rich and full bodied stories.

But when she is invited to join an all-expenses-paid dig to do just that, Corrie is sure it's too good to be true... Fun adventure!
Revisado: 01-02-25
I love a good action adventure and this book was precisely that! Really enjoyed the jungle setting and how it was all described. It had decent MCs and interesting supporting characters too. It's a 4.5 for me because it picks up in the second half and the last few chapters felt rushed. It would have been nice to explore some of the things that happen over a few more chapters.
Also just a personal preference, I'd rather the first half focused more on the story than on lusty glances and steam.

Historia
Hannah might look like a kindergarten teacher, but the truth is she's an elite bodyguard who could kill you with her bare hands. Jack is an impossibly handsome, world-famous actor who has everything...including a corgi-breeding stalker. When Jack's mom gets sick, he heads home to his family's Texas ranch to help out. Only one catch: He doesn't want his family to know about his stalker. Or about his new bodyguard. So Hannah - against her better judgement - finds herself pulling on her cowboy boots and pretending to be Jack's girlfriend as a cover.

This is the perfect mix of laughter and lightheartedness mixed with grief and healing and forgiveness. It doesn't feel too heavy, yet at the same time is not meaningless fluff. This is the second book I've read by the author and she really has a knack for writing books that are fun but stay with you. It was the right book at the right time for me.

Unexpected!
Revisado: 12-05-24
I came from the Moose Springs series so was not expecting something so serious. But stuck around anyway and wow, it's a tear jerker. Very emotional, but still sweet. Likeable and emotionally mature characters. Overall, I'm quite impressed by the author's versatility. Narrators voice was well suited to the more serious themes. I also really appreciate that we are now getting closed door stories that are still really good quality, no need to choose one or the other. If you're looking for a light romcom, this is not that but definitely worth saving for when you're in the mood for deeper feels.

Great story telling
Revisado: 09-04-24
This is the second book by Jenni James that I've read and I really like the style of story telling. The characters are grounded and reasonable and there isn't too much angst. Also love that the stories are clean and sweet, but still don't feel like they're too immature. Would recommend for a nice calm listen. The Virtual Voice fumbled it at times but was still tolerable.

Meet Naomi and Nicholas: the perfect couple. Their glorious, lavish wedding is coming up in three short months...and they are utterly, miserably sick of each other. Unfortunately, whoever backs out first will end up bearing the brunt of the wedding bill. When Naomi finds out that Nicholas has been feigning contentment too, the two of them go head-to-head to see who can annoy the other into surrendering. Now that they have nothing to lose, they're finally being themselves. They're having so much fun getting on each other's nerves that it starts to feel like something else entirely.

Hilariously unhinged and yet absolutely beautiful!
Revisado: 08-12-24
Stumbled on this gem and wow, it is the best book I've read this year (and I've read a lot). In a way, Naomi and Nicholas are all of us. We've all taken our SOs for granted or slacked on good communication. Of course they take it all a little too far. But that's what makes the journey back to each other so special. It's a really good read, and I will definitely be reading it again.
