I really want to like these books

I love the stories in general but her one old friend is getting ridiculous. She would have been kicked off any real cruise ship and probably put in a care home. It’s getting monotonous. That is really my only complaint otherwise these books would probably be getting a four or five star rating.

It started out fine

This series started out fine if a little immature. The grammar and editing was bad. The best friend was the most annoying character I may have ever read in a book. She was portrayed as an immature, annoying, entitled 12-year-old rather than a grown woman with a degree. Also, as the books went on, we got more exposed to the author’s values, beliefs, and political agenda. Now I don’t care if you are a Republican or Democrat or you believe America is going to fail as a country but I’m not reading a dystopian novel, I don’t want it rammed down my throat in a cozy mystery. The pugs became very high-handed and preachy. For a character written as so “loving” she was very judgmental. Also, I don’t know if the author did any actual research into police procedures, but she did have the local law enforcement doing a lot of things that they would never be allowed to do and get away with in reality nor would they be asking civilians to put themselves in danger that way. Not very believable.

This was not my favorite book. The narrator was not consistent, and neither was the story. I could not get on board with the lead character. Her leaps of logic made no sense, and I don’t think that anybody would really think in that ridiculous way. Also, if I am in a car and someone is chasing me I’m driving to get help not out of town to hide. Also, if I’ve got my cell phone, I’m calling the police Was completely illogical

Great Series!

I really enjoyed this audible set. The characters were engaging and well developed including most of the supporting cast. I was drawn into the authors descriptions of the different kingdoms. I would love to see more books with these characters or maybe the next generation (hint,hint).

I had problems with a couple of small things. The author does overuse some words/phrases like booted foot and whimpered. Also, the jersey shore mermaids were really obnoxious. I know that was the point, but it seemed out of place in the books.

The narration skips around and repeats passages in the second and third books. But that is not really the authors fault.

These were minor issues though, and it was a fabulous series and I would love more.

Great Book

I have read these books before and I always love them. I think that the story is well told and the characters are not one-dimensional. The only thing that I don't like about the audiobook is that the narrator is inconsistent. The accents that he uses for the characters change frequently and he flips back-and-forth. What sentence a character could sound French and the next German or Russian. This could be so good if he would apply the same accent to the same character throughout the book.

I love this book

Anyone who has read these books know how good they are. The story is a modern classic. That being said, the narrator is not my favorite. Most of his characters come off as really whiny. Though his Hagrid is pretty good. In the first two books I was annoyed with his pronunciation of Voldemort with a silent T. Then I read an interview with JK Rowling where she said that was how it was supposed to be said.

Loved the book, but...

Savannah Reid is one of my favorite series and I loved this book but the narrator was so annoying I could barely stand to listen to this. It was monotone and choppy. It sounded like she was reading the phone book.
