Historia
Kay’s life is pretty boring. She goes to school, spends quiet evenings at home with her foster mom, and has the occasional brush with mischief thanks to her best and only friend Will. But everything is about to change. One night, Kay tags along on another one of Will’s adventures, and they both end up recruited by a talking fox to become Netherjacks, protectors of all the worlds. Once they arrive at the training academy, though, Will is paired with a legendary Netherwing mount and quickly rises in the trainee ranks, leaving Kay behind with barely a glance.

Fun book!
Revisado: 04-17-25
I really enjoyed this audible original! The performance was great, the story remained exciting the entire time and I kept wondering what was gonna happen next. There are sad things in it, but it’s totally appropriate for kids. The only thing I don’t like is there does not appear to be a sequel and it’s been a few years.I honestly probably would not have read it if I didn’t realize that it was gonna be left open for a sequel and then one was never made. I hope audible original will release a sequel to this.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Sooooo disappointed. Also, NOT for kids or teens
Revisado: 01-16-25
With all of the hype of the movie, I had high hopes for this book, and I was thoroughly disappointed. It felt like it dragged on forever, the narrator was frustrating, and there were multiple sex scenes throughout, which were unnecessary. It could have basically led you to know that that was going to happen without having to give the details. Also, the narrator sounded like an old man, and he did not bury his voice for different characters much at all. It literally sounded like a grandpa reading a story out of a book. Which is OK if you don’t mind that, but I am an avid audiobook listener, I listen to 3 to 5 books every week, and this is one of the worst narrators I’ve heard.
If you were expecting a fun prequel to the Wizard of Oz, this is not the book. The Broadway plan movie are loosely based on this, but I just cannot tell you enough how disappointed I am with this book and I will never read another book by this author.

Please be careful. Please be happy. And please forget all about me. It’ll be better for everyone that way. Those were the last words Keefe Sencen wrote to Sophie Foster before he ran away to the Forbidden Cities. He didn’t want to leave, but it was the only way to keep his friends safe while he figured out how to control his scary new powers and searched for answers about his past. What he found was so much more than adventures in Humanland.

Fun change, seeing the story from Keffe’s POV
Revisado: 12-04-24
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and getting to see things from Keffe’s POV. It was different listening to a male narrator, but he did a good job. My only complaint is that I listened to this book and finish it in a day and a half and now I’m ready for the next book. 🙂

Fun story, but in desperate need of editing!
Revisado: 10-06-24
Well, I really enjoy the characters in the world this author has created, but this book could be cut in half and you wouldn’t lose anything important. Sometimes someone’s inner monologue goes on for over an hour and a half and they just repeat the same thing over and over again. Also, there are some definite POV issues and then randomly one of the characters “breaks the fourth wall” and starts talking to the readers/listeners, and then goes back to normal. Another problem with this book is the random “side stories” that pop-up in between chapters. And finally, the author really needed a consistency editor because you will have a character that disappeared in one chapter and then two chapters later that character is suddenly back, and then the next chapter they’re suddenly disappeared again. I desperately wish this book had an editor because then it would’ve been a really great book, but as it stands right now, be prepared to skip through lots in this book, and I mean hours and hours and hours of stuff you’re going to want to skip. If you can get through all that, then it’s an OK story.

Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Creative and interesting story, but monologues for long and happened too often
Revisado: 09-29-24
This was a fun and creative story, and I will continue through the series. I felt like the characters were well developed and interesting, and the story was definitely unique. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it was overly wordy in places and probably at least 25% of this book could have been cut without losing anything important. There were multiple times where I skipped through 30 minute to hour long monologues that essentially kept saying the same thing over and over again, but in different ways.
However, if you don’t mind skipping through stuff that is unnecessary and doesn’t add to the story, then the story is quite enjoyable. I personally like long books and long series because it lets me really dive into the world and I listen to books while I work and do pretty much anything else where I’m not talking to other people. I am looking forward to listening to the next book, especially since this one did a great job of introducing you to what’s coming next and leaving you on a little bit of a cliffhanger.

Fast-paced, fun, Deck-building LitRPG
Revisado: 09-25-24
I really enjoyed this book and listen to it in two days. I am totally invested in the characters, and there are still twists and turns. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that it left us on a huge cliffhanger. I hope they come out with the third book soon.

I am loving the build your deck type of LitRPG
Revisado: 09-23-24
I love this Narrator! He did an excellent job bringing the story to Life and putting in sound effects and making it clear which character was which by the different voices he did. I also think the author did a great job of character development and building clear heroes you want to root for. No I’m going to download book 2 and start listening.

Fun, fast-paced story with memorable 6th graders
Revisado: 10-16-23
I thoroughly enjoyed it the first book of this new series, and I can’t wait for the next one! Vera is such a lovable character, and I think all kids and teenagers, and even adults, will be able to relate to her. While we may not have the same challenges, it is a good reminder that we are all dealing with some thing and we all need to be kind. Plus, with the fun Paranormal Elements, you and your kids won’t want to stop reading/listening.

LOVED this book! It left me feeling thoughtful and happy at the end
Revisado: 09-21-23
I listened to this book out of a recommendation from a friend. I am so glad that I did! I really needed it feel good book and this was it! It kept me intrigued until the end and I listens to the entire book in one day. It’s also such a good reminder of the importance of treating everyone with kindness. And as a parent, it was a great reminder to me that it’s important that we Always encourage our children and be opening and welcome to their friends as well. I think the parents of the main character were phenomenal parents! I hope I can be more like them.
