Tedious Tweet conversations...OH MY!
Revisado: 09-22-22
I have enjoyed the first five books in this series and was truly excited about this newest one. It was a real challenge to finish it as there were too many "tweet conversations" chapters and it was difficult to listen too. I skipped through most of them as they did not add that much to the overall plot.
The ongoing and tiresome relationship between Carmoran and Robin needs to resolve. All their independent thoughts, worries and insecurities are maddening. If they know each other "so well", then get on with it! Their ongoing drama is wearisome at best. I cannot recommend this book. Disappointed. I do love the narrator! He's great.

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Narration almost ruined it
Revisado: 06-03-22
The story is almost ruined by the narration, especially the attempt at men's voices. Painful to listen. I did like the twist at the end! Great surprise. Overall, it was a decent book. Think about a new narrator for the next one.

Predictable...full of cliches
Revisado: 05-08-22
Sadly, I bought this book based on Joy Ellis's Jackman and Evans series. Not at all the same caliber of story or performance. Narration was annoyingly fast, accents too contrived and the main character's change from a really bad, hard hitting, rule breaking detective to a "feel good" person was just too unbelievable for me. Still trying to decide if I am going to return it.
I do not recommend this book.

Where to start? Narrator breathy and hard to listen too. I finished in hope it would pick up. My mistake. Trying to decide if I’ll return it .

Plot had potential but narration a problem.
Revisado: 10-01-20
This story had potential and then got bogged down in too many unnecessary details about equipment, entry points, etc. And, alas, the narration was terrible...slow, monotone, boring. It was difficult to listen for too long without going to sleep. Sorry Christina. I'll be returning this book.

Brilliant. Backman does it again!
Revisado: 09-15-20
Brilliant. The story is both heartbreaking and heart warming. The characters are wonderfully "normal idiots" who stumble into a very unlikely set of circumstances and come out of it with new understandings of themselves, their loved ones and life in general. We are all but a step away from making a really bad decision. Marin Ireland did a beautiful job establishing each character with their own quirky personalities. I rarely listen to books more than once but I'm ready to listen again. It's the kind of book that you will hear something different with each listen. Loved it!

Where is Michael Connelly? UGH
Revisado: 06-14-20
A "Fair Warning" is what we needed before starting this book. Are you sure Connelly actually wrote this? Narration was, at times painful. The attempt at a British accent fell terribly short. It was like listening to someone read a script from the very old T.V. series, Dragnet. I struggled to the end but it was hard. I will be returning the book. Sorry Michael. First one I've ever returned. Where are you?

A waste of time ---
Revisado: 02-01-20
This book had entirely too many tired and overused cliches, dialogue pedantic and monotone and way too much detail of things that were not relevant. I struggled through to the end to find out what happened in the "break room incident" to be left without an explanation of what actually happened to her finger. The ending was very disappointing. What happened to her sister? Did they find her? Why were her parents so "calm? It had such promise. Science info was way too much and I'd dare say, over most people's interest or knowledge. I am going to request a refund.

This was a pretty good book but I could not get past the first hour. Narrator was beyond monotoned and lifeless. At points, the dialogue did not help him. I did read the book on Kindle and overall, enjoyed it. Characters a bit shallow but it's ok for a quick read.
