Why is truth so hard to discern but a lie can so easily be taken up as truth and used to incite as well as excuse all manor of inhumane acts, thoughts and deeds. Why does man, who was given Devine dominion over all creatures of this world, chose to destroy it all with hate, fear and violence instead of preserving all the beauty it offers. This book looks at the horrors man can unleash upon their fellow man while also shinning light on the victims of such acts and it's effects on the world. To forget is to encourage it happening again, to deny is evil, a way to keep hate alive and growing.

The Thursday Murder Club books are well written with characters you can both relate to and root. for. There are 4 'old' people, in their 70's

Hard to believe

The computer generated voice definitely did not help this book. Between the robotic cadence and the main characters constant need to pervericate or simply withhold the truth, this was a challenging listen. I found myself dismissing or challenging many of the premises and/or actions in the book. At the end, when there was a sneak peak at another of his books, I quit listening after a couple of minutes when it became apparent obvious that the same technique was used.

Resistance

I'm a big fan of historical fiction. This was a good view of the effects of war on France from the point of view of small villages. I liked how it focused on the resistance fighters, the sacrifices, bravery, commitment as well as the psychological stress and scars. It is definitely worth a read

Military Justice from a Hollywood perspective

The story was entertaining from a completely fictional, hyped up point of view. The idea of sexual misconduct in the military and the minimalization, cover-up, and complete denial of such behavior is totally believable and more than probable. However, the high action, block buster treatment of such a serious matter seem to trivialize the subject matter while focusing on sensational high action antics.

Historical Novel

A very interesting glimpse into history. it is about a man who served four English kings over his lifetime. William Marshal was an actual man who rose from being a political hostage at 6, disclaimed by his father, no land or title to a prominent figure at court. He was heralded as one of the greatest fighters in Europe. This is a glimpse not only into his life but politics, personalities, and lifestyles of that time; it's like taking a walk in the past

Strong Women

This is a very enjoyable, insightful book about a strong woman trying to be the scientist she was meant to be but facing a wall of unbending prejudices socially, economically as well as professionally. It sheds a light on the up hill battle against prejudices, fears. misinformation and inequality in a country that denies prejudices while extolling the myth of equality for all as well as 'freedoms'

I didn't like this book very much. The main character wasn't believable, as if he was trying too hard to be edgy and tough while coming off as a wannabe. There was too much time spent on his sideline job as a game developer, too.much description of the game and development stages

A Wish

When we first meet Cara, she is on the run from some tragedy involving her twin sister Hannah. As we travel with Cara on her precarious journey, we meet some good, kind people but also barely escape some dangerous situations. Cara's strength and core goodness become apparent as we root for her to be successful in her journey of life. This book also shines a light on depression and its destructive nature while also providing information and hope for dealing with this debilitating disease. It is also about family, the one we are born into, and the one we build.around us. Very good read!
