I feel like this book had the potential to be world-changing, which the writing definitely is. I just don’t love the romanticizing of Stockholm syndrome and the hues of misguided deception that these “scientists”force men into women, this is so not the message I was hoping for. It paints trans femininity in such a predatory/ captive way that I don’t think it belongs in audible’s LGBTQ section- it belongs in sci fi or fantasy. The stories were written really well, especially the parts of coming to terms with gender, but it is so heteronormative in the way that the men think they aren’t gay, but are okay with being with men if they are “now” women.
