Not a bad book, but....

This truly was not a bad book. Something about it just didn't grab me though. The only thing I can come up with is that it feels more like Young Adult genre. The characters were in their 20s and in college, but they seemed more like high school students and were kind of immature. Other than that, it had a good story line and the characters were each distinct. It bored me some, but not because it was badly written. I just wasn't that interested in it. I have seen some people give it great reviews and I can see it being a great book for the right person. I gave it 4 stars based on the book's merits. I had to force myself to finish it though and would consider it a 2 for me.

I'm not sure what all of the complaints about this book (and others in the series) are about. I really like the characters and the story. In this book, Mack is new to politics and not used to being manipulated by people so much. They have switched tactics from trying to control her to manipulation. It took her a while (in other books) to break away from being controlled and I am sure she will do the same with manipulation.

She is also prickly and hot tempered, but has learned to control it. She is still finding the balance and sometimes goes to extremes in being too angry and too passive.

I have seen complaints about Helen Harper killing off characters. I don't think these books are meant to be light little paranormal romance novels, they are almost in the same category as the Anita Blake books (but with a lot less horror and a lot less sex). Mack and Anita are similar in their complexity and temperament.

I have not been able to stop listening to the series. As soon as I finish one, I download the next one. I am glad the series will wrap up though, I have things I need to do. :)

Almost unbearable narration

It is hard to decide how good or bad the story is because the narration is so annoying. For all of the male voices, the narrator talks so slowly with unnatural pauses about every 4 words. It is so distracting that I couldn't focus on the story.

I didn't care much for the characters or story line overall but it might have been more tolerable with a different narration. I won't be getting book 2 or listening to another book narrated by Chandra Skyye.

The B-word in every other sentence!!!

I REALLY tried to like this book! I like Shelly Laurenston's Pride series and assumed this series would be just as good. I was so wrong. I didn't like any of the characters and couldn't relate to them at all. The friends called each other the B-word ALL THE TIME! Then, Zack started calling Sarah the B-word ALL THE TIME! It got really old and not romantic in the least.

I also found myself checking out and had to rewind to figure what I missed. The whole thing was just painful to listen to.

Terrible!

I don't understand how this book has gotten any positive reviews. It is terrible! There is practically no story line, just a string of badly written sex scenes. The dialogue (dirty talk) is so cheesy and painful to listen to. I couldn't finish it and decided to return it when I found myself fast forwarding through most of it to try to find a plot or something other than sex.

A little boring!

This wasn't a bad story, but it just moved so slowly. The first few chapters were fine then started to drag. I had to force myself to finish it multiple times. There was so little story line except he wants her, she wants him (repeat over and over).

Ready for book 2

I was really surprised by this book. I liked all the characters and the story line moved along without getting slow in parts. I actually wish it were longer and developed even more. I'm definitely getting book 2.

The second Molly Harper book I haven't cared for.

This book was okay, but I wish I hadn't wasted a credit on it. There is very little development between the two characters. After he screws her over, they have very little interaction but suddenly at the end realize they can't live without each other.
