Exactly how I thought the story would go

That's not a bad thing because there's a reason I keep coming back to this author. I just wish the alternating narrator chapters would stop with her books. have the male narrator read the male characters and the female narrator read the female characters. The way they disregard how the other portrays the way they narrate the same characters breaks immersion.

Good Story, narrator leaves much to be desired

I enjoyed the story. The narration not so much. How to describe it? Hmm. Okay. It's like going to a good highschool play. The kids get the job done, and they're entertaining. But they arent as good as a big name venue where the quality is much better. Dude over acts and reacts while reading and is annoying. It wasn't bad enough for me to return for my credit but not good enough where I'll listen again. do yourself a favor and listen to a sample before committing. It doesn't get better.

marketed towards the young side of young adult

This story isn't for me. The story is written from the perspective of a child but it is also written how a child would imagine the world to work. I dont mind young adult stories or stories written with a child main character. People in power especially those that had to work to become powerful would have to be smarter in how they use that power be it political power or the power of their abilities.

If you enjoyed NPC's by Drew Hayes then I suggest giving this book a try. I won't give any more details because I hate spoilers in reviews. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I will be buying the next one and look forward to it.

Great performance, and story

This is just bad. It has zero knowledge of the military and how they operate. A 16yo as a squad leader because of her ability Salinger the most lethal. They have a 17yo kid as psychological expert, with bad story writing to reach his goals. Worse scene was a creepy and badly written seduction of a 12yo girl to get her to do what he wants. This book is just non stop cringe.


Soundbooth does a great job making this unbearable book bearable. Still wish I didn't buy it.

Fresh take on a litrpg

Not your typical video game rpg story. This is an augmented reality game story so the main character is living real life while playing the game. A nice spin on what you typically see in the genre.

The story was entertaining and soundbooth can make a mediocre story into an entertaining experience. I Just hope the author sticks with soundbooth theater this time instead of switching to a different narrator 5 books in like he did with Cherry blossom girls.

I remember reading this and being excited for the audiobook and was not disappointed. The bonus blooper chapter at the end was also hilarious. Not going to lie, I listened to it a few times. Thinking about taking the string of curses and turning it into my ring tone.

Narration leaves much to be desired

if you take over a series you have a responsibility to be true to the characters. Daniels did not do that. He shows he can do accents but he still goes off the rails completely from the accents, pitch, and delivery of the characters lines from the previous four books. Unacceptable. Great story but this has caused me to do something I hate doing. I returned this book and the previous four. I enjoy replaying audiobooks and I truly enjoyed the first four but I can't listen to them again knowing of this one and the subpar narration. If they ever re-record this with Vikas Adam I will repurchase it and the rest of the series again.

A nice change of pace

while the beginning is a little hard to get through I reccomend powering through it. This is a nice take on a litrpg and refreshingly different. I would write more but I just bought the 2nd book and would rather listen to that than keep typing with my thumbs.
