She slept with the devil. She killed with the devil. She never stopped loving the devil. July 1963: All of England is rocking to the music of Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and Elvis. It’s also the month when Myra Hindley and Ian Brady, two of England’s most prolific serial killers, would claim their first victim. He was a child they buried in the muddy, swampy moors near Manchester. Sleeping With The Devil: A Shocking True Crime Story of the Most Hated Woman in Britain is the tale of two bloody years in the 1960s. Disturbing!!
Revisado: 03-28-25
Not really an enjoyable book! Detailing the horrible murders of children. If you know the case and are interested in history it’s better but don’t put yourself through it for no reason. Interesting why people are motivated to do these acts.

Historia
For years, Emma Carey was a regular young adult who would wake up and go about their day on autopilot, someone who would look at a sunset and feel unaffected, someone who was living, but not really alive. That is, until something happened that enabled her to really see life for the gift it is. Emma was in a skydiving accident that made her a paraplegic. This book is not just about Emma's fall from the sky and how she learned to walk without ever regaining feeling in her legs but also about the beliefs and ideas that helped her survive.

Stupid says nothing
Revisado: 06-26-23
Talks about very basic communication skills and is old fashioned. Ie. don’t be overbearing, a way to have children is not to keep a relationship … really basic says nothing!! And says it badly

During the many decades of the author's clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms. The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book.

Life changing
Revisado: 12-01-22
I was referred this book by someone wise and already had some idea of a few of his theories but wow life changing. Since reading it I have released many of my life’s traumas, resolved ongoing conflicts and life my life according to his principles of love and getting rid of the ego. I’ve had a long 6 days of mind blowing bliss and a few months of high look and vibration. This book ad so much in it I read it over and over. It is dense in places and for some hard to grasp but stick with it.

A story supporting abuse towards women …
Revisado: 12-01-21
Wow what a narrative. Basic premises-
- it’s ok I f someone you love rapes you, abducts you and abuses you if you understand why he does it! He’s probably just a kind person who is misunderstood! And you need to forgive him.
- the man above is definitely boyfriend material
- wait for Ben to confirm around and save you, don’t stand up for yourself and definitely don’t hold the subsets in your life accountable for their poor behaviour.
- this book glosses over the physical and mental effects of being brutally raped. Just forgive him , you’ll be right in a few days - get over it!
Yes this is a rant but as an advocate for women this is a truly abhorrent book
Finishing this book for a young women leaves the message it’s ok if he abuses you he probably has good reason …
There is enough abuse, excusing abuse, murders, and violence in this world without this book romanticising it.
Author - there’s some nice writing bag here. Please truly think about the messages you are spreading to young women of colour especially about acceptable dynamics of abuse and power.
Audible. I don’t think this book is morally sound to be given away for free on audible.

Dreary and depressing
Revisado: 09-30-21
Wish I could return this as I didn’t finish it. It’s slow moving, repetitive and not particularly believable. If someone likes reading about child abuse you might enjoy it but all a bit boring.

Yeah what!
Revisado: 07-21-21
Book had heaps of twists and turns which can be good but for this one it got a bit much! Lots of people getting hurt/dying these characters are the most accident prone in history. Some of the dialogue was stupid and overdone by the time the main character was having a long chat with deceased people in heaven the book had lost its credibility for me and become more of a comedy. The voiced were also silly and not helpful to the character development,

Historia
In this compelling and heartfelt memoir, writer Molly McAleer chronicles the discovery of her father's addiction and subsequent death, how true love saved her life and how she kind of sort of got tricked into going to rehab. She knows you'll probably never believe her side of the story, so she also interviews friends, ex-friends, and her acupuncturist about her history of substance abuse, flailing through her twenties and what kind of person she really is.

A young woman over-analysing her navel. Might be interesting to anyone who knows her but otherwise the story lacks direction
I listened to the end as I had a common experience with an absent alcoholic loser father. I have had great experiences with his family that’s been a great way to start to heal the pain and the gap in my life.
