Seriously disappointed
Revisado: 02-18-25
I was so excited to purchase this book. I loved the prior Auntie novels. This was just incredibly implausible from the jump. Scene after scene after scene did not fit in any way with reality - either in real life, or within the story itself. I kept trying, but nothing whatsoever made sense.

The story was good, but the AI narration made it almost impossible to pay attention to the story. All the inflections and emphases were wrong. Ruined the book for me .

Conned by Audible and disappointed
Revisado: 07-11-24
This book appeared in my library, but when I tried to listen, it kept stopping. I finally discovered I needed to purchase it. Ctge first chapter or 2 was interesting, do I did purchase. But, after the first couple of chapters, it was completely ridiculous and predictable. Complete waste of a credit - I couldn’t finish it.

Dislike the names - ImoGIN, etc. plot is obvious from the middle of first section yet drones on and on. Finally just had to give up and move on to a different book,

Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Jumps all over in time
Revisado: 01-19-24
Constant “9 mos ago” “2 weeks ago”. Very hard to follow - especially on audio instead of a book where I could easily go back a few pages and see what time frame we are in. And I could not see any reason it was not in chronological order. Many loose ends which were not resolved and did not need to be there at all.

Milwaukee bar owner Mackenzie "Mack" Dalton has a unique neurological condition that gives her extra perceptive senses, and police detective Duncan Albright is convinced Mack's abilities can be used to help catch crooks. Mack may be at pro at mixing drinks, but she's still an amateur when it comes to solving crimes - and she's not sure she should mix business with pleasure by working with a man who stirs up such strong feelings in her.

Historia
Faith Ferguson is New York's most in-demand wedding planner, an arbiter of taste for elegant affairs, lavish ceremonies, and exclusive fêtes. She appreciates a simple celebration as much as a dazzling event, for she knows that a dream wedding is not necessarily the most expensive one. As much as Faith enjoys her work, her two failed engagements leave her with no desire to get married herself. She finds fulfillment in her close relationship with her twin sister, Hope, her role as a mentor for her assistant, Violet, and her career.

Two days ago, the Wilson family checked into the imposing, glass-fronted Lodge, surrounded by snow and perched perilously on the edge of a cliff looking out to a gray sea. Hard to hang in to the end
Revisado: 12-14-23
I liked the beginning, then had a tough time sticking with it to the end. I am tired of implausible books - police completely incompetent, multiple murders and murderers, plot lines left dangling, rush to try to tie everything together in the last chapter, but not accomplishing a satisfying ending. This book, unfortunately, had it all.

Historia
James Henry, a kind-hearted professor of English literature, is forced to move back home to Quincy's Gap, a tiny town in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, to care for his aging father. Shortly after moving into a house that hasn't changed since his childhood, the overweight, divorced, book-loving cheese puff addict accepts a position as head librarian and joins a supper club for dieters who call themselves the "Flab Five". Avoiding carbs is almost impossible in this deep-fried, all-you-can-eat Southern town.

Appreciate the Flab Five and the premise of coming together to diet. Interesting how each character has a skill or connection which advances the plot. Interesting story and start of series.
