Historia
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Historia
Reidon Ward will become a god. He doesn't know it yet, of course. Reidon was born weak, sickly, and small. Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him. However, his perseverance has not gone unnoticed, and when the most powerful artificial intelligence in human history takes an interest in him, things began to change quickly.

Plodding
Revisado: 12-18-24
Too much detail about things that are simple. Pace of the plot is plodding. I can’t believe I spent money for this book.

AI narration is awful
Revisado: 05-16-24
The story is weak and the AI narration is monotonous. The pitch of the AI narration is annoying in the same way nails on a chalkboard sounds. I hooe the trend of using AI narration ends soon.

Could not continue
Revisado: 04-01-24
This story was too boring for me to continue listening. So many tedious details, boring characters, boring plot, and plodding story pace and that’s only up to Chapter 4. Gahhh. Part of a BoGo so I can’t return it. At least the other book was enjoyable so not a complete waste of a credit.

Not a fan of AI narration
Revisado: 02-17-24
I’m reviewing the audio ebook version. The story is just so-so, The author spends time detailing the main character’s efforts to learn how to cast a protective shield around herself but then the girl never uses it. I can’t help but wonder if the story was generated by an AI writer. And the AI narration is so monotonous and distracting. It was near impossible to figure out which character was speaking because the voice tone never changes. Most decent human narrators will at least use a different tone to differentiate characters. Luckily this was a free ebook from the Plus catalog.

Slow build up but fantastic story
Revisado: 02-14-24
I’m rating the audio version of this book as 5 stars. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy the story as it was slow going until after the second chapter. The narrator does an amazing job bringing the different characters to life as the author intended. I’m a Kevin Hearne fan so I’m glad to find another series to dive into.
