After reading the main book, this story gave so much insight and history. I definitely recommend anyone reading this series to include these as well, because they are more than just "side" stories. Not since the novellas of Shattered Sands by Bradley P Beaulieu have i read stories that fleshed out the world and characters so well!

I absolutely can't wait to see what's next in the second part of the series!

I loved this story, and as it is the first of a trilogy, I can't wait to see where it goes next! An exciting plot and quest, interesting characters, and unexpected twists and turns. Knowing there are the novellas that tie-in, those are my next reads, because I want a peek behind the curtain of this story's histories and excited to see how we got to the place that the story had started. I recommend this to anyone looking for a new epic fantasy story to dive into!

I've never been a big fan of bdsm-themed lit. But I'm an Ali Hazelwood fan, so I opted to give it a shot. I am glad I did. The story was well crafted and I think the more subtle elements that make "light" bdsm attractive to certain tyoes of people were well-explored. It is probably the first shuttle bdsm-themed love story I have read that didn't make me feel icky (as someone who is not a part of the bdsm community) and maybe even normalizes the preference so it doesn't feel so taboo.

Overall, I enjoyed Lucas and Scarlett's journey. I def recommend this one to anyone who isn't sure they'll like the theme.

I enjoyed the relationship and character development, but the story is most definitely a slow build without a ton of conflict. But if you're in the mood for a sweet love story with an okay bit of spice, this will do it!

Unlike a majority of its genre-counterparts, this story included gender bending and unconventional themes that I found refreshing. I also enjoyed the Tarzan-esque plot line wherein the once-regal-turned-savage Duke of Wolverton must reconnect with humanity and society.
Is it as predictable as the next regency romance story? Yes. But was it just different enough to stand out? Definitely. I thought these main characters were highly likeable and their live story was well-developed. Great read!

I just loved Garret and Ethan's story. Their chemistry, their common born commonalities, their equal zest and passion for their professions...all ingredients for making this my favorite in the Ravenel series so far! Sweet but not saccharin sweet. Sweet in the same way you want to bottle up Ethan's love for Garret and hers for him.

Ali Hazelwood really won me over early with The Love Hypothesis and Love, Theoretically....I was eagerly anticipating the release of Not in Love. But I have to say, I'm disappointed. The entire story is basically a verbose pornography set in academia between a borderline cringey guy and a most-definitely-on-the-spectrum gal. Their love story is based entirely on their awkward, but voracious sexcapades and while a bumbling plot is somewhere in there, it's meandering at best.
The sex was explicit (and I typically am very pleased by some extra spicy, extra steamy scenes!) and so dominant in the storyline that I found myself fatigued by the over abundance of coitus. The author made several references to racier, more "fringe" sex acts but the characters never actually commit any of those acts so the fantasy falls apart. Honestly, it has the same vibe as someone who has never done the acts trying to talk about them without the experience. It felt forced and performative.
The bottomline: the love story is not convincing at all and the spive/steam/sex stuff was boring even when it was trying not to be.

And a final note: in my personal opinion, it's the least romantic thing to refer to the female genitalia as c&nt. I truly wish romance writers would stop that. It's profane and not romantic or sexy. In fact it cheapens any illusion of romance or love, if you ask me.

My fave of the Knockemout series

I eagerly awaited this 3rd installment of the Knockemout series. I had enjoyed Knox's and Nash's stories, but the buildup in each of those books for Lucian and Sloan's story made finding out about their past and their HEA incredibly satisfying.
Also, I absolutely loved how scary Lucifer/Lucian's perspectice always revealed his love for Sloan. Unlike the other 2 books in the series, Lucian (as the male MC) didn't have to be convinced to fall into love with Sloan. He was there from the beginning. The journey was Sloan's. And goodness, the steam between those two was incredible. Seriously, if you read the Knockemout series in order, you've essentially had 25 hours of foreplay to resolve.
Sloany Baloney and Lucifer have the most touching, sweetest love story. The tragedy in their lives just highlights how special their love is.

Good story-A few narrator Issues

Things were very good with narration until the first epilogue. it sounds like a different woman and it sounds like she's reading on her phone. The audio quality sucks and her reading of the content is pretty awful. Honestly, it completely disrupts the "zone" you're in up to that point. Comparatively, the original female narrator does a great job throughout the rest of the book.

As for the overall story, this one is steamy and sweet. I love Will and Josie together!
