You should read the first book
Revisado: 05-08-25
Overall, the story holds your attention and the ending is not obvious. But there is too much reliance on characters and events in the earlier novel. This is particularly obvious with character development. A good listen.

Why is Miami… Miami? What does the heartbreaking fate of the cheetah tell us about the way we raise our children? Why do Ivy League schools care so much about sports? What is the Magic Third, and what does it mean for racial harmony? In this provocative new work, Malcolm Gladwell returns to the subject of social epidemics and tipping points, this time with the aim of explaining the dark side of contagious phenomena. Through a series of gripping stories, Gladwell traces the rise of a new and troubling form of social engineering

Historia
The dentist was found with a blackened hole below his right temple. A pistol lay on the floor near his out flung right hand. Later, one of his patients was found dead from a lethal dose of local anaesthetic. A clear case of murder and suicide. But why would a dentist commit a crime in the middle of a busy day of appointments? A shoe buckle holds the key to the mystery. Now - in the words of the rhyme - can Poirot pick up the sticks and lay them straight?

Classic Christie
Revisado: 11-12-24
The plot has lots of twists and turns but the story seems lacking any suspense with the exception of the last chapter. A good listen if you’re a Christie fan but it just rolls along.

A Little This and That
Revisado: 11-06-24
Levitt and Dubner are always entertaining and When to Rob a Bank is no exception. However, I didn’t find the stories as engaging as those in the Freakonomcs books. I guess I learned more from those and less from this new book. It’s a pleasant way to spend 8 hours but some of the material is a bit dated.

Historia
Hang on for a wild ride! The craziest “coalition” in history is out to destroy ISIS! Forty years ago, Don Tommy Aiello was the most feared mafia leader in the United States. Each week, he counted the number of bodies he was responsible for killing. Each week, he counted the number of women he had slept with. But that was forty years ago. Today, he counts the number of pills he takes and the pennies left over from his small Social Security check so he might buy a cheap set of dentures – not covered by Medicare. Life is pretty awful. Twenty miles away, Pedro Sanchez, twenty, has already...

Interesting but predictable
Revisado: 10-22-24
Thin plot line, extensive use of Arabic names and places made it difficult to follow the story. The virtual voice was okay much of the time but you could tell it was not a human reading. Especially noticeable when it came to song lyrics.

The rewards of outside the box thinking are illustrated throughout the book. It gives permission for asking if there is a better way to accomplish goals. It is rewarding and affirming if you find yourself asking the hard questions when everyone is looking to move on.

The first person narrative pulls you into the story. Many twists and turns, lots of flashbacks. If you like mysteries, this is a nice light read. Although there is danger, it is not suspenseful. You may not guess the ending but you won’t be surprised either.
