Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Amazing Story of Resilience And Service
Revisado: 03-03-24
I don't remember hearing about Corrie Ten Boom or if I had I had forgotten. I grabbed this title because it was free and I needed entertainment for travel. I was pleasantly surprised by the story, Ir was well read and caught my attention right away. I was most moved by the conviction to my heart. Sometimes I wonder about our crazy world right now. I know God is here and in control, but to hear how Corrie and Betsy not only maintained but risked everything to share God and Jesus in a multiple prisons and camps during WWII. How they thanked God is ALL situations even for the massive amount of fleas in an infested sleeping room. And how the fleas actually were part of Gods plan - you have to read it to hear why 😀. How they searched and Thank God for the little good in so much sadness and disparity. I know I need to pray and thank God for the Climate Chaos, for our countries politics, for so many things I just grumble, complain, and get angry about. Thank you audible for making this free and Corrie and Betsy.

The fact that I never knew!
Revisado: 01-01-24
When I think of stories I heard about history of indigenous first nation people (american Indians) I remember first thanksgiving, french and indian war, trail of tears and battle of little big horn. The Osage peoples are not in the history books. Also the reference to Little House on the Prairie and how it looked at native people, I need to go back to reread and watch. That formed a lot of my childhood. As we grow as a country (we are new in the wild stage) we have to wrestle with and eventually accept that we are not much better than all counties have how bloody history's of power plays by individuals, organizations, and governments. The sooner we deal with these moments in our past; learn without villainizing the relatives of the past bad actors and for those who have benefitted from past bad acts - acknowledging it and do good from the resources you gained- we can move on as a country.

Historia
It's nearly Christmas, Julia Devine's favourite time of the year. She's just programmed a wonderful lead into the holidays at Sunny Street Cinema, which leaves her plenty of time to worry about going home to Cumbria for Christmas. Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Amazing- Wanted more!
Revisado: 10-05-23
The author expertly uses a story from post WWI in PA to describe the growing pains America same as other counties, faces as it grows. New people come from different counties with different cultures. There is changing status of current citizens, and social and technological advancements the redistribution of power and wealth. There are those who make lasting change by not choosing to ascribe to what society says we must do, but following their heart. This is my second book by McBride and cannot wait for more.

Loved the Roller Coaster Ride Story!
Revisado: 08-29-23
I found this series in accident and pinged all 25 books over the last few months. The character development and stories. Belly laughs, tears, cheering, and lots of - wow didn't see that coming twists and turns. Love that an author can keep a clean series I can listen to with my granddaughters (5 & 7) about women. Please keep them coming and family-friendly too!!!

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Raw, Real, Revealing, Resilience
Revisado: 02-03-23
One of the best autobiographies ever. On par with Born A Crime, but instead of tears from laughing too hard, I had tears for the pain and heart break. Like Born A Crime, Prince Harry grew up being told he was expendable and he was less than. Like many he forged his own way and created his own identity. He was not born a crime, but born expendable. Then he does the unthinkable, marries outside his race and culture to a powerful, successful black women who is has her own identify and knows her self with. When he and his beautiful bride started to excel and gain popularity and threaten the power holders they had to be stopped at all costs. Many Americans live this daily from under represented or under served groups and communities. In the end we see a story of resilience. What scares me is the power of the press and those who wield it as a weapon. When will the world wake up and create and accountability system.

Coyle's way of delivering the purpose using stories with purpose is an example of the culture change he is talking about. If he is not Finnish (not sure) he should be an honorary Fin.
