Historia
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

The Relatable Story of Everyday Family Life until…
Revisado: 04-26-25
The story, itself, is something that I have wanted to listen to for several years but just never got around to.
The subject matter, Heaven, is something that I believe most Believers have, at some point, had real curiosity about.
Having the blessing of children and now, grandchildren, I could only imagine the surprise, confusion and anticipation of what the next thing coming out of my child’s imagination might be.
A beautifully hopeful and BELIEVABLE story of a very special encounter with God granted to one of the most innocent of human beings.
Thank you to the Burpo Family for their vulnerable openness in sharing this Inspirational and Hopeful story.

Historia
A self-described orphan with parents, Bobby Hall began life as Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, the only child of an alcoholic, mentally ill mother on welfare and an absent, crack-addicted father. After enduring 17 years of abuse and neglect, Bobby ran away from home and - with nothing more than a discarded laptop and a ninth-grade education - he found his voice in the world of hip-hop and a new home in a place he never expected: the untamed and uncharted wilderness of the social media age. In the message boards and livestreams of this brave new world, Bobby became Logic.

Raw Honesty, Transparency, Humility and Humor that made me laugh MANY times
Revisado: 04-25-25
It was serendipitous that I came across this book in my Audible “Daily Deal” email, because reading those is always hit and miss.
Add to that that this was a story of a young rapper (music not of particular interest to me), and the likelihood of me (a Baby Boomer born in 1958) paying any more than the “deal price” and I would, likely, never have even considered this a valuable listen.
Being Nonna (Italian for “grandmother”) to two College age, one High School Senior, one High School Sophomore and one 5th grader (ALL who like Rap Music), deeply sensitive to the challenges of ) navigating “life”, trying to figure out where you belong and all the insecurities that come with that stage of life, I hoped this autobiography might have some Wisdom Insights to offer which might help me in my relationships with these young g people I love more than life.
I got SO MUCH MORE than I could have ever imagined!
The rich Insights and Wisdom shared about his young life (unimaginably difficult and challenging) and eventual rise to great success made me feel as if I had been RICHLY BLESSED, DEEPLY MOVED and GREATLY ENCOURAGED by the telling of his story.
The fact that he is the Narrator (honestly, one of the best I’ve heard!) of his own story made it’s IMPACT even greater.
Coming from the generation when, in Jr. High, the most popular (and shocking) word being used was “sucks” 😄, I anticipated language that I’d rather not hear. Yes, there was quite a bit of the “f” bomb (which was raw and honest), but I have to confess that my own daughters(although, not so much) and now, older grandchildren, have helped to lessen the shock of hearing one of the two words I hate hearing above all (the other being “g—d——“ 😣).
The richness and VALUE of his story was worth wading through it all. 😊
An “old soul” at such a young age, much WISER and more EMPATHETIC than most adults, makes this not only a story of heart-breaking anguish, but one of GREAT HOPE and PROMISE that there are more “Bobby Halls” out there in the world touching the lives of those around them in a POSITIVE and Healthy way.
I intend to share Bobby’s story with my older grandchildren who I have seen struggle with SELF-ESTEME, ANXIETY and DEPRESSION issues since childhood.
My instinct tells me that Bobby is one of those rare individuals who REALLY knows how to LOVE and CARE for other’s humanity.
This book was a harsh but VERY HOPEFUL journey to listen to (despite the “f” bombs 😉). I HIGHLY recommend it and believe that young people would GREATLY benefit from the story of how, with a GOOD HEART, GOOD ATTITUDE and FORTITUDE, Bobby was instrumental (along with all those he so graciously credits for helping him along the way) in CREATING the life he came to live and for which he expresses much GRATITUDE.
Bobby, it would be an honor to make your acquaintance should life present the opportunity❣️
Your wife and children have a wonderful blessing in you (as I am sure they are for you, too).
God Bless and Keep You and your Family as life goes on. 🙏🏻💕

Historia
DS George Cross has always wondered why his mother left him when he was a child. Now she is back in his life, he suddenly has answers. But this unexpected reunion is not anything he's used to dealing with. When a disturbing case lands on his desk, he is almost thankful for the return to normality. The body of a monk is found savagely beaten to death in a woodland near Bristol. Nothing is known about Brother Dominic's past, which makes investigating difficult. How can Cross unpick a crime when they don't know anything about the victim? And why would someone want to harm a monk?

Complex and Intriguing
Revisado: 04-05-25
I enjoyed the characters with a special affinity for Detective Cross and his unique challenges posed by his Asperger’s.
As someone challenged by ADHD, Inattentive Type, I enjoyed reading the Author’s attempts to capture a character and his interactions with “neuro-typicals” that surround him. 😊
Very interesting storyline, some of which was familiar to me as a practicing Catholic Christian.
I look forward to reading more from this Author!

Interesting Story Line Relatable to Small Town Living
Revisado: 03-20-25
I liked the main Character and found it interesting to learn more about her experience as a young person growing up in the town she had now returned to. The revelations about she and her family and their standing in the community, while secondary to the main plot, added an intriguing dimension to the story.
I found the story line believable for small town living and I was still curious, up until the last minute, about who the guilty party was.
An Enjoyable Listen
