Mediocre
Revisado: 04-27-25
I guess this type of story is plausible but some parts are really excruciatingly annoying. Why are people so slow to act? I hope I or those I love are never in this kind of situation indeed and that they can make better choices.
And the AI narration is horrible. Please go back to real people reading books

Reading behind the culture
Revisado: 03-15-25
Besides the story which is ok I could not stop thinking about the cultural content. Is the south of the US still this backward? Talking about “good breeding”, about how women are regarded etc? It was shocking indeed.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 03-04-25
I was thinking along different lines when I purchased the book. I was expecting a classical legal thriller. I got a book that sounds like a historical novel. It’s good but I put it down a couple of times, especially the first part, I found it dragging and I must say boring. It picks up pace and I went through it. But still, I did not love it.

Too much religion
Revisado: 02-07-25
The story is ok, it touches on current stuff. But I was not looking for some preacher pep-talk. It’s ok but at least for me it gets a bit too much

It was OK. Fun listening for long commuting drives. The characters are a bit naive, I would have not put up with all that.
