Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Another great King novel
Revisado: 08-07-18
The Outsider is another great Stephen King novel. If you haven’t read the Mr. Mercedes book yet I highly recommend reading those first. It isn’t necessary but a lot will be spoiled for you if you decide you want to read them later.
This was a really creepy and disturbing book and I loved every second of it.
As always Will Patton does a fantastic job narrating. He really breaths life into the characters.

Another brilliant story by Michael J Sullivan
Revisado: 12-06-17
This was yet another perfect pairing of brilliant storytelling and masterful performance. I can't think of a better pairing of writer and performer than Sullivan and Reynold.
The world that Michael J Sullivan has created in the Riyria stories is so alive and vibrant. The characters are so well developed and really have a life of their own. Sullivan has written the story but he has done such an amazing job of it that I believe Royce and Hadrian are living and breathing somewhere.
I highly recommend buying this book and all the other books in this series. I love that each book can be read independently of the others, other than the original trilogy. Each story is fully developed and complete. This is another perfect fantasy adventure appropriate for all audiences, parental discretion always advised.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Really disappointed
Revisado: 09-30-17
Let me start off by saying I love Stephen King. I have been a huge fan of his for over 25 years and I have read nearly everything he has written. I have never given one of his books less than 3 stars. All that being said this idea was fantastic and I was really looking forward to seeing what they were going to do with it. It started out really good and the writing was good it was just so preachy. Men are the cause of all the trouble in the world and women would be better off without men. Even women who are in prison are only their because of men. Women who killed husbands are only their because they were abused. I don't disagree that their are men who are like this and women who are abused but not every man or women is all good or all bad. For a while I just went with the story and I thought yeah I understand this is the point of view of these characters but it got to be absolutely ridiculous. Every character had the same views. Honestly I don't think I have ever been more disappointed in a book. I gave it 2 stars because the writing wasn't bad, otherwise I would have given t one star, but I will never read this again nor will I be recommending it to anyone.

Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but longstanding enmities dividing the Rhune make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods? The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind.

Another Masterpiece from Sullivan
Revisado: 07-26-17
If you are a fan of epic fantasy this series is a no brainer. It is so polished and so well written that I can't find any fault in it at all. I will say right off that I am a huge fan of Michael J Sullivan and I am a huge fan of Tim Gerard Reynolds, together they are the best of the best. I read a lot of fantasy and in my opinion Lord of the Rings is at the top of the list of best series ever, this series so far is right at the top and climbing. I know Sullivan has already finished the series it just has to be published and I cannot wait for this story to continue. If this series keeps getting better, as Age of Swords has gotten better from Age of Myth, which I loved, than this series will be right with Lord of the Rings as best fantasy series ever written. Sullivan doesn't get near enough credit for his talent. I believe his work will be studied in the future.
If you are looking for a great series that can be enjoyed by both teens and adults, look no further than Sullivan. All of his books are fantastic and I would highly recommend any of his series.
My only complaint is the story had to end. I could have spent a lot more time their. I will be buying book 3 on day one! I am really loving these characters.

In Age of Myth, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan launched audiences on an epic journey of magic and adventure, heroism and betrayal, love and loss. Now the thrilling saga continues as the human uprising is threatened by powerful enemies from without—and bitter rivalries from within. Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but long-standing enmities dividing the Rhunes make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods?

A dark horror series well worth your time.
Revisado: 12-19-16
This is book 2. You need to read Father of Lies first. If you enjoy dark occult horror novels and you can deal with difficult subject matter, I would highly recommend this series.
This series takes place in a small English village and surrounding areas. It follows a mentally ill woman who has been ritually abused by satanists and is in a psychiatric unit. The nurse and doctor who care for her investigate her town and what is happening their and find many satanic forces, including people in high standing and in leadership positions.
Who can they trust?
Now a preteen young girl is in danger of being sacrificed in a ritual on her upcoming birthday and the small group of healthcare workers and detectives will try and put a stop to all this abuse.
The narrator does a good job at creating different voices for the characters and reading this story. She reads pretty quickly, sometimes I have to speed up a narrator because they read to slow for me, but this narrator reads at a perfect speed for me.
The final book just came out and will be on audio in January from what I have heard. I really liked both these books and I highly recommend them.

Any additional comments?
So I got the kindle edition of this and decided to buy the audio and give it a try. I honestly wasn't expecting much from this book. Their wasn't many reviews and I picked it up for cheap. I am very happy that I decided to buy this book. It was fantastic and I will be buying the rest of the series to see where this all ends up. One warning to those who are thinking about buying this, there is some extremely dark scenes and subject matter which I guess you should expect when reading books about satanism.
The narrator did a good job. I am glad I decided to buy the audiobook and I will be buying the rest of the series in audio format as well.

Let me start by saying that I read a lot of fantasy books. I read a lot of books period. We are at the end of June and I have finished nearly 70 books this year. That being said AGE OF MYTH IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ THIS YEAR. It is already one of my favorite books ever. Oh and the last few chapters are an absolute roller coaster ride, and I didn't want to get off.
Michael J Sullivan is such an amazing storyteller. He does such a brilliant job painting a picture of this world and these people. Not only that but the story is fresh and unique. I read so many stories that just seem to be a slight deviation of the same old story. This book is not like that. If you want to read a book full of adventure and deceit with strong male and female characters, but not full of violence and sex, this is the perfect book for you.
I had just finished a book right before this came out so I was able to start listening the morning it was released. I couldn't put it down. I just had to keep listening. It was so good and I was so invested in the story. Have you ever had a meal that was so good you just couldn't stop eating? As you get closer to finishing the meal you realize that it is almost gone and you won't have anymore, so you want to slow down and savor each bite. Maybe you will leave a little piece so you can enjoy it later. But it is just to good, you can't help yourself. You finish every last bite. You are completely satisfied, but down deep you are sad because it is gone forever, you may be able to eat it again but it may never be this good again. That is how I feel about this book. It was so good I didn't want to stop reading, but I kept getting closer to the end and I was panicking because I didn't want the story to end. Thank goodness their is a series that is already written. I don't have to worry that the next book will be years away, or possibly never released. Their are 4 more books in this series and I can't wait to see where this all ends up.
Tim Gerard Reynolds is a brilliant narrator. I have never heard him do a sub par job on a book and he was brilliant reading this one. He does such a great job with emotion and communicating the feelings and emotions of the characters. I can't think of a better author/narrator team than Reynolds and Sullivan.
Simply put this book is a must read especially for fans of epic fantasy. Let's see how this series plays out but if the rest of the series lives up to Age of Myth, this series will be a masterpiece.
Age of Myth gets my highest recommendation.

A great mix of paranormal fantasy and mystery
Revisado: 05-30-16
What did you love best about The Devil You Know?
I love fantasy stories and I am a fan of mysteries and this book had the perfect mix of the two. I very rarely find a book that has a really good mystery that also is set in a fantasy world. I loved this.
What did you like best about this story?
The best thing about this book was the great characters combined with a Scooby Doo type mystery. Only with real ghosts and demons.
Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I loved the Mistborn series and Michael Kramer did a fantastic job in it. I didn't realize he was the narrator for this book when I started it, it kind of made my head spin at first because I was so used to hearing him read for Vin and others. But it passed quickly and I thought he did a really great job here. He had very different accents and voices that where easy to distinguish and follow.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I definitely laughed out loud at times and I will listen to this book again.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book to fans of the paranormal and fantasy as well as fans of mysteries that aren't opposed to a paranormal world. If you like Scooby Doo mysteries and you are an adult I recommend this book to you. Their are some adult scenes in this book so I wouldn't recommend it to a younger teen audience.
