Historia
When Cassie Klein goes to an off-campus bar to escape her school’s Family Weekend, she isn’t looking for a hookup—it just happens. Buying a drink for a stranger turns into what should be an uncomplicated, amazing one-night stand. But then the next morning rolls around and her friend drags her along to meet her mom—the hot, older woman Cassie slept with. What should have been a one-time fling quickly proves impossible to ignore, and soon Cassie and Erin are sneaking around. Worst of all, they start to realize they have something real. But is being honest about it worth the cost?

Beautiful story. I loved how well developed all the characters were, and how self aware. No artificial drama here. One of my faves!

A message from the stars offers humanity an escape from our harsh origins deep within a region known as "Cruel Space" by the rest of the galaxy. Earth's nations unite to construct the Dauntless—Earth's first interstellar craft. Its mission: to journey to the world of Centris and establish formal contact with the enigmatic Galactic Council. Unsure of what to expect from the wider galaxy, each crewman was trained to be a peerless warrior, armed to the teeth and ready to fight for all humanity. However, what they encounter was far from their expectations. Instead of monstrous beings, they ...

Great story I highly recommend, but virtual voice does not do it any favors
Revisado: 09-22-24
I'm rating this five stars overall despite the 1 for performance given the story itself deserves it. For the genre, this is great stuff. I'm likely not the target audience, but despite that it was a good romp. I plan to read the next books the old fashioned way, it as close as a Kindle comes to that. If Audible is the only way you can introduce yourself to Wesson's story, as was the case for me who has far more time to listen to than read a book, go for it. Just don't hold the limitations of VV against the author.

Fantastic follow up
Revisado: 06-17-23
I loved this follow up in Prairie Town. It resolved most of the outstanding character plots and left us with a warm HEA. I would have liked to have seen the book be a little longer so we could have seen a but more of the potential development between Jebson and Aggy. Still, there's enough there for the reader's imagination. That you T.E. Ridener for sharing this exquisite work and to Molly King for her superb performance. Highly recommend!

Lydia McIntosh left her old life behind when she said good-bye to Prairie Town, North Carolina, and started over halfway across the country with her beloved Gran, away from her family, away from everyone who knew the person she once was and from the identity she never quite wanted in the first place. When her grandmother passes away, she returns home, and while she intends to stay only for the funeral, her grandmother has other plans - from the grave.

Sweet romance; 5 stars regardless of LGBT element
Revisado: 06-15-23
First I want to say this story holds up to any "mainstream" romance. Love develops naturally, Characters are relatable. Dramatic moments make perfect sense. The TG element is handled very tastefully. I encourage anyone to give this story a listen because it is a great romance story. The TG element is just a tender part of an overall mainstream love story.
I agree with some comments that the narrator's voice initially felt off, but within a few chapters it grew on me and by the end I cannot imagine it being read by anyone else. Molly's alto voice permitted her to voice men and women naturally. 5 stars for her!

Fun listen for what it is
Revisado: 02-01-23
Book 1: Great story to listen to if you want a really steamy experience. Lots of hot sex. Micki is likable enough but the love interest, Robin, is never really developed. Robin's change of heart about her previous "no strings" ways comes from nowhere and we never understand much of anything about Robin that explains the change. It makes the story more wish-fulfillment for lesbian women who feel trapped in a straight marriage than a real, organic story. Still, I enjoyed it for what it was. Great story to listen to when doing other things which allow moments to enjoy some really fun steamy scenes. Book One is 3 star story, five performance, four overall.
Book 2: Best of the three. Much more character development as we get the story from both main character POVs. Unlike Book One where Robin was barely even two-dimensional, I came to empathize with both characters. Angela also did her awesome usual performance. Book Two is 5 starts all across.
Book 3: A radical departure from Book 1 & 2 in that it is told using first-person present. This tense can be done well, but it feels clunky here as it is so different from the previous books. Character development has some of the same problems as Book One. I am left wondering if the author had an editor for Book Two that was not involved for Book One and Three. Also, narrator Melissa Moran does it no favors with the fast-tempo reading speed. I had to slow the speed to 0.85 in order to properly enjoy it as much as was possible. Finally, I agree with those that the POV character focused so much on their size issue that it felt like a sledgehammer on the reader over the subject. It actually made it hard to immerse in the story. That characteristic is fine for a character, and I certainly can identify, but if I wanted to feel preached at I would be listening to non-fiction. Three stars across for the reasons above.

Exactly what is says on the tin
Revisado: 01-28-23
I loved it. This story is about two pairs of women and those around them surviving a loss of modern civilization. The focus is on relationships with the circumstances providing a crucible for them. My only nitpick is that I suspect the author never actually went to Astoria before writing this book. There is a reference to "Longview" across the river, but it would actually be "Long Beach". More than that, Astoria is presented as much smaller than it really is. Even 20 years ago, Astoria and the towns surrounding it was a lot bigger than suggested. That said, I suspended disbelief by registering this as a parallel world where the author took creative license. Other than that, great story! :-)

Historia
Captain Keyes is loved by the public but hated by Command. He captains the UHS Providence, an aging supercarrier and the last human ship not dependent on dark tech - technology humanity has used to rule over the galaxy since barely defeating the Ixa in the First Galactic War. Dominance has come at a cost. Over the decades, old allies have grown resentful, and when dark tech itself fails, Captain Keyes’ predictions start coming true: those old allies are now enemies.

Great idea and epic story with a wobbly execution
Revisado: 01-27-23
I agree with reviewers who got headaches from Bartlett's apparent naivete of actual military service. A military (as opposed to naval) captain does not get a sizable ship command. Naval and military ranks are mixed together in an incoherent way. A Sgt does not give orders to a 1st Lt. I expect Bartlett's knowledge of the military was gleaned second hand. This isn't a deal breaker, but it does make the story feel off in many places.
A lot of other reviewers have issues with how characters act, and I agree many actions seem forced and don't develop organically from previous character development. Capt Kane is the worst offender.
All this said, the epic storyline and characterization of aliens more than offsets the flaws. This is a fantastic story overall; a great yarn. This is well worth the credit if you make it through to the payoff.

Historia
Caroline Parker knows three things to be true. First, she is going to be Boston's most sought-after divorce attorney by 35. Second, given how terrible her romantic track record is, falling in love isn't in the cards for her. And third, Christmas only brings her bad luck - being broken up with not once, not twice, but three times during the holidays is proof enough of that. When she runs into Hannah Dalton on Christmas Eve, she has no reason to believe her luck will change. After all, though Hannah is probably the most gorgeous woman she's ever seen, she's also straight.

Fantastic
Revisado: 01-02-23
First person present is a very difficult style to write, but Ms Cass knocks it out of the park. So incredibly good character writing. Sensual and longing, with just the right payoff near the end. Very classy.
And Lori Prince is literally at her best with this performance. Brava, brava!

Best listened to at .85x or .90x

The narrator is fine, but she rushes through the story like a racehorse. slowing down 10-15% makes it much more enjoyable. Hopefully the narrator learns over time to take is slower and let listeners savor her skills. :-)
I love the location of the story. Brookings is one of my favorite stomping grounds.
