Historia
After an adventurous season spent excavating at Dahshoor, and narrowly averting the clutches of the Master Criminal, Victorian Egyptologist Amelia Peabody Emerson and her spouse prepare for a quiet summer in England. The social and domestic routine, though interrupted by the precocious escapades of their only child, Ramses, hardly seems much of a challenge for the indomitable Emersons.

Not as expected
Revisado: 07-15-23
The detail and the "wanderings" throughout became so much that I lost track of the main story. The narrator was ok for the men, but he needs to work on his female voices. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book for enjoyable listening.

Love this series
Revisado: 03-23-23
These are light-hearted and fun with believable characters and dialogue. The author includes details that bring it to life, and they are clean and sprinkled with mentions of Christ, prayer and faith. I applaud the author's abilities to create good mysteries that provide hours of pleasurable listening. The narrator does an excellent job -- very easy to listen to. Nothing in her voice that makes me cringe, as some narrators have done.

Historia
Rumpole isn't particularly fond of Christmas; he finds it has a horrible habit of dragging on as he and She Who Must Be Obeyed go through the usual rituals in Froxbury Mansions. After the exchange of presents (lavender water for her, a tie for him) they settle down to a supermarket turkey with all the trimmings, followed by a glass of port. The only excitement comes in deciding whether to stand for the national anthem after the Queen's Speech.

Revisado: 10-25-22
The author gives the right amount of details, her characters are believable and diverse, the conversations are not stiff or stilted. Wonderful that there's NO profanity, but rather God and prayer play a part -- not a lot, just enough. Humor, good mysteries and some romance. I plan to continue to buy and listen.
