G'day. Enjoyable read & narration was really good too.
Wow, Emma, it's so good to hear a decent Aussie accent, & a great Italian accent from Dane too.
Will defo look for the next book from TL Swan.

Nice story, great narration

Really enjoyed the "duet" style narration, enabled a smooth delivery.
This book was a nice change, where the story is key and not obliterated by pages & pages of smexy detail.

Reasonable story, awful narration
Revisado: 02-10-25
Good storyline which declined quickly whenever the FMC was present. Her growing list of calamaties so exaggerated, she was neither amusing or charming.
Narrator didnt do the book any favours either, with the sickly baby-girl voice throughout, even for the non-character story telling parts.
Not on my TBR again list, sorry.

Good premise, reasonable read
Revisado: 01-19-25
Looked forward to reading this book but was slightly disappointed as the main character was so dislikeable. Maggie was supposedly a logical, highly intelligent mathematician but came across as a self absorbed tween. She had trained to be a spy too but missed the most obvious clues.
Minor bug - several americanisations of English words, needed a bit more research into correct vernacular, eg Tap & eiderdown .
Narration, on the whole, the English parts were ok, though Lillibet a bit shrill. The Scottish voices were slightly dodgy, but Maggies voice was just awful,
Going by other reviews, think I shouldve tried Churchills Secretary book first.

Narration awful
Revisado: 12-04-24
As much as I love Ms Douglas's books, this one didn't quite resonate with me (female protagonist wasnt particularly likeable).
The Virutal Voice was very distracting, Was difficult to differentiate between characters speaking or even the gender, it all sounded the same.
VV also doesnt work with 'foreign' words, the Italian sounded silly but the French words were excruciating.
Note to authors/editors, VV narration might be better suited to non-fiction tomes. It doesn't work with this fiction genre, it just sounds cheap and not affording the authors a decent portrayal of their hard work.

Awful narration
Revisado: 12-02-24
Shame about the narration as it spoilt a perfectly good story.
It was like listening to your SatNav for hours, and you couldn't define which character was speaking so "she" always had to announce a name in the sentence ( eg Joe, would you like a cup of coffee & Yes Nancy, i would). Cringe.

Dancing on bar tops means the night is going great. Exiting the bar hauled over the shoulder of Heston University's infamous hockey captain? Not my idea of a good time. But my would-be knight would have to do. I needed an escape route from my brother… his biggest rival. Easton Blake is the perfect reminder of why I avoid hockey players. Cocky. Frustratingly sexy. Accustomed to every girl in his orbit falling for his charm. With his sultry smile that tells me he knows all the ways to make girls come undone with his touch, I'm almost the next score on his stats.

Narrators were good and did a great job.
Cant say that it was a particularly enjoyable ready though, sorry.
If readers like a book with minimal story & excessive smexy scenes, then this should suit.
However, if you prefer a book with more depth & higher % of story content, then perhaps you may want to save your credit?

Good read, not so good narration
Revisado: 06-10-24
Enjoyed this book, cant understand why screenwriters chose to change the character who discovered Lady W's identity for the tv show.
Narrator was good for Penelope & female characters. But unfortunately not so great for the male roles, especially Colin (he sounded like a 60 year old curmudgeon). Because of narration, have only purchased Benedict's story in e-book format not audio.

Love "Duet" narration
Revisado: 05-25-24
If you like one-sided stories then this book might suit. Trista wasnt very likeable, pushy & with bouts of verbal diarrhoea. Even allowing for her growing up issues, it was still difficult to empathise. Wyatt was a nice guy but bit of a pushover for her.
Love the Duet style narration, and Teddy is great as usual.
