Historia
A telepathic hunter of serial killers, Raven Whitney helps to catch some of the most depraved criminals. But her work keeps her from getting close to others, and has drained her body and spirit. In need of rest and rejuvenation, she embarks for a vacation far from home. Mikhail Dubrinsky is the prince of the Carpathians, the powerful leader of a wise and secret ancient race that thrives in the night. From the moment they meet, Raven and Mikhail are helpless to resist the desire that sparks between them. Can’t finish it
Revisado: 04-28-25
So I tried to like this. I got more than halfway through, but when I saw there were still five hours left, I couldn’t finish it.
He’s overbearing. She’s independent. But both in unhealthy ways.
*spoiler alert*And I get that that’s part of the allure, but it got to a point where she kept saying “no” to situations that would save her life. And she claims to love him so much, and recognizes her life is bound to his, but she’s still willing to die and condemn him to death than do the hard things. And he wants to protect her from every possible discomfort (I wish real men did more of that for their partners!), but she is so stubborn and he can literally make her with his mind… yet he is willing in mere days to fight that centuries old instinct for her, yet she’s unwilling to try for him. Her compassion is great, but her compassion for others trumps her compassion for his struggles and keeps putting herself and him in danger. I just don’t like her very much. I’m sure she’ll get there. But I’m not willing to find out in another five hours of listening.

Historia
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

Revisado: 06-11-24
I really enjoyed this book. It was more emotional than her other books I’ve read/listened to, at least for me. I couldn’t stop until I knew what was going to next, and then I couldn’t stop again because more needed to be revealed! I honestly cried a bit. It’s a beautiful story.

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Good-contains emotional/psychological abuse
Revisado: 02-16-24
This was a good book, although it was a bit triggering for me. A lot of gaslighting, a lot of questionable choices, and I found myself feeling ill for parts of it. I’m glad I got to the end, and Mhairi is one heck of a writer!
It is a good and relatable book, though it may be too intense for some listeners. It nearly was for me.

I don’t know how she does it, but Mhairi is able to create intricate, real, funny, and lovable characters. Reading the synopsis, I was on the fence. So glad I jumped over and gave it a try.

Historia
Ever since his career-ending injury, Pat has bounced from job to job, idea to idea, short-lived relationship to short-lived relationship. But when his father purchases the town of Sheet Cake, Pat suddenly sees his life with clear purpose: get his brothers on board with his dad's wild idea and win back the one woman who got away. Lindy was supposed to be traveling the world, not stuck in a small town, caring for her niece. But she would do anything to keep custody of Jo, even if that looks like a marriage of convenience with the man who already broke her heart once.

Like the male narrator…
Revisado: 02-07-24
It was an ok listen, I finished it, but it never sucked me in. I didn’t particularly like the story. There were too many points of argument that could’ve been easily better argued. And the female narrator started to sound super staccato and forceful with her characters. I liked the male narrator. He was the only reason I could keep listening. I knew he’d make the characters more likeable and turn things around.

This story speaks to me
Revisado: 09-14-23
I loved this book! My husband and I met when I was 18, was my first kiss, but it took us nine years to get to the place where we were finally able to admit we loved each other romantically. All of the indecision and fear took be right back.
I thought the narrator did an amazing job as well. She was personable and funny and made the story come to life. Looking forward to reading more from this author, and listening to more from this narrator.

Wanted to love, couldn’t even finish
Revisado: 07-11-23
I was so excited for this book. It sounded interesting. But the reality didn’t live up to the hype. I found the adjectives superfluous and I could tell there was going to drama over the dishonesty from the get go. This is a pet peeve of mine, and in this case more so because Jamison is clearly interested in Vivienne but potentially sabotages it with unnecessary lying. Be an adult. Own your sh*t and be proud of it. Stop complicating everything because your afraid to address difficulties head on. Aaaand I digress.
I’ve read several reviews with spoilers and I see the relevant and necessary topics enfolded into the story. I think the lying and feeling of desperation did me in so I couldn’t get into it. Bummed. But glad the author is getting props from those who can look past my peeves.

Triggering
Revisado: 06-23-23
I finished the book. It was ok. It definitely wasn’t my favorite. Some of the plot points may be triggering if you’re dealing with unresolved trauma. Infidelity, abuse, family-of-origin issues, etc. But if you enjoy a story about strong women overcoming tough situations, you might enjoy this.
