Went from Hopeful to Crashing in Flames...
Revisado: 04-22-25
I was hopeful from the first book. The first book had lots of issues, but I really liked the concept and decided to give the second book a try. This was a mistake.
The main character is just so very unlikeable. The magic system is just painful to hear and listen to. The main character does so many cringy things. The good/evil mechanisms of the book are just stupid. Its painful to listen to.

Historia
In the wake of Donnyton's challenge, Randidly makes preparations for his planet's future. All his cunning and crafting ingenuity flow into Kharon, the mechanical city. All his knowledge of metallurgy, engraving, and the System will shape this grand project. And if his theory proves true, the result will be much more alchemy than mechanism. While Randidly Ghosthound has plans, so does the Nexus. During his next Judgement, an extra consequence is applied; he is kidnapped from Earth and taken to the outer reaches of the Nexus proper.

Too Much Secondary Character Review
Revisado: 04-12-25
This book was focused way too much on secondary characters.
I get very tired of the author telling us about the secondary characters. This book was almost entirely about secondary characters. Though the author took a interesting perspective to tell us about them, it was still frustrating.
I'm here for the main character and his story. I'm here to hear how he triumphs over the system and challenges. I am here to hear how he saves the world. I am even here to hear a bit of how the people around him help him achieve those goals. However, those secondary characters have more time devoted to their story then I care to hear. I feel like the author should put all those side character stories in a separate book and allow us to skip it without hearing about what happens to them if we don't want to. This book was so bogged down in secondary characters that it was difficult to hear the actual story.
I'm just hoping the next book doesn't give too much time to secondary characters or I am likely to leave one of my favorite series behind and never hear the ending.

Ever since the System brought magic and monstrous mayhem to Earth, long-haul trucker Jill "Junkmouth" MacLeod has had a need for speed. The highway snaking through the Midwestern plains is the battleground, and the stakes are the lives of not only Jill but thousands of survivors along for the ride. Together with Bertha, her mega-upgraded, fully-turreted, heavily-armored Soulbound big rig, Jill has the edge—so far.

This book was ok, but nothing special. I was put off by just how childish the main character acts throughout the entire book. I'm also annoyed at how the system is designed with good and evil alignment and how they manipulate and control the character.

Ugh this book was so hard to listen to. I love the concept and the system. Listing to the main character is just so painful. I'm done with this series.
The main character won't stop rhyming. The pronunciation and tedium are just difficult to hear.

Historia
Nyx was born Hollow. An empty vessel in a world of spirits. Normally, that was a death sentence, yet somehow he survived. He's always been stubborn like that. He's also always been a bit crazy. Which is why, in another life, he did something reckless. He sent himself a message—his memories. Threw them into the Flow from which all spirits return. Besides, Nyx believed in asking hard questions. Like, was reincarnation real?

Madness personified
Revisado: 01-15-25
This was hard to listen to. The main character monologue's most of the book. The author captures the craziness of an insane person talking to himself and his multiple personalities very well. Its... insane...
If your wondering what "murder babies" are from the intro (like I was), it is refer to some creatures that are babies and grow are destined to grow up and murder people/things/etc.
This was a super weird book. The narrator truly captured the character...

Choppy start, story had trouble getting going
Revisado: 01-07-25
The concepts were interesting.
The introduction was disjointed and hard to follow. The magic system was not bad. It is definitely Apocalypse LitRPG. I didn't like the floating islands mixed with the shards of reality concepts.
The main character has a hard time or is over powered from one sentence to the next. The progression just is too imbalanced for my tastes.
The narrator did a fine job.

Fun ending
Revisado: 11-09-24
I really enjoyed the book. The cultivation system was fun.
The virtual voice did a fine job. Except for one annoying part where it started pronouncing the main character with an extra S on the end of his name, that it hadn't done in the previous books.

The mission just got a whole lot more challenging. Determined to reclaim what was taken, Zaelen faces a race against time, striving to advance in cultivation faster than anyone ever has before. But the path is fraught with danger; assassins shadow his every move, and his presence is unwelcome in many territories. As alliances new and old rally to his side, startling truths emerge. The true instigator behind the monster plague is revealed — a Planetary Destroyer, the antithesis to a Planetary Fixer like Zaelen.

Fun story with Cultivation at Last!
Revisado: 11-09-24
This book was a lot of fun. I enjoyed listening to the main character deal with issues.
I was so glad to finally see the main character begin actual cultivation. The cultivation aspects were light compared to other books in the genre, but I love cultivation so I enjoyed it.
