Historia
Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

Historia
Victorian adventuress Veronica Speedwell is whisked off to a remote island off the tip of Cornwall when her natural historian colleague Stoker's brother calls in a favor. On the pretext of wanting a companion to accompany him to Lord Malcolm Romilly's house party, Tiberius persuades Veronica to pose as his fiancée. But upon arriving, it becomes clear that the party is not as innocent as it had seemed. Every invited guest has a connection to Romilly's wife, Rosamund, who disappeared on her wedding day three years ago, and a dramatic dinner proves she is very much on her husband's mind.

Historia
London, 1888. As colorful and unfettered as the butterflies she collects, Victorian adventuress Veronica Speedwell can't resist the allure of an exotic mystery - particularly one involving her enigmatic colleague, Stoker. His former expedition partner has vanished from an archaeological dig with a priceless diadem unearthed from the newly discovered tomb of an Egyptian princess. This disappearance is just the latest in a string of unfortunate events that have plagued the controversial expedition, and rumors abound that the curse of the vengeful princess has been unleashed as the shadowy figure of Anubis himself stalks the streets of London.

We are not alone
Revisado: 04-13-21
Somewhere along our way, we are challenged, hurt, betrayed, and struggle with depression which at the time seems insurmountable. , For me, I felt absolutely alone on my path, and what I could survive. My story, though different, is similar to Erin’s. Age is no determiner in when I would experience or survive the pain. At 68, I have stood up for all that is truly important to me and refuse to loose or sacrifice those joys. Erin’s story in her own words told me there are others just as committed to surviving and with time and focus I too will get through this to the other side and celebrate how far I have come. I too am a survivor and am grateful for so much good I in my life. Thank you Erin for sharing your story it touched me so deeply. You are an amazing woman.

Historia
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring.

Very slow
Revisado: 03-10-20
The accents by the narrator are good. I am sure the story in its original form, if it is a story passed down, moves more quickly and with more energy. Worth listening to the sample narration to make your own decision.

Historia
Summer 1924: On the eve of a glittering society party, by the lake of a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. The only witnesses, sisters Hannah and Emmeline Hartford, will never speak to each other again. Winter 1999: Grace Bradley, 98, one-time housemaid of Riverton Manor, is visited by a young director making a film about the poet's suicide. Ghosts awaken and memories, long consigned to the dark reaches of Grace's mind, begin to sneak back through the cracks.

Revisado: 10-18-19
As with all Kate Morton's stories, it covers many years and lifetimes. Her ability to weave together a story is remarkable. I have enjoyed every minute of each of her stories, The Shifting Fog is excellent and the narration consistently excellent as well.
