Holmes is back and…the game is still afoot! The year is 1899 and Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are at home at 221B Baker Street as London endures its coldest winter in memory. Then comes a telegram from Sir Henry Baskerville, Baronet, filled with fearful premonitions and a supposed sighting of the ghost of Jack Stapleton, the evil mastermind behind “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, upon the moor. This is followed immediately by reports declaring the death of the Devonshire Baronet in a “tragic accident”. Were Sir Henry’s words to Holmes and Watson mere hysteria? Was the ...

Can not stand virtual voice recordings
Revisado: 04-05-24
The story is good but the virtual voice is awful!!!! So monotonous and boring it just about put me to sleep at work. I guess it’s good for listening when you need sleep. I won’t be listening to anymore virtual voice recordings unless I can’t sleep for some reason. It’s a shame because I like the way it’s written and I would definitely recommend if some actual person narrated it.

More suitable for teens.
Revisado: 01-20-24
The story sounded like stories I read when I went was in middle school. The main character Libby, was quick to feel faint and shocked and had childish thoughts, reactions and responses throughout
the book. Several characters went on & on about blaming themselves for things that happened during the story and in the past. The narrator portrayed some characters as being a sullen little girl.

Historia
Often compared to both Ruth Rendell and P.D. James, Deborah Crombie is internationally acclaimed for her deftly written mysteries that combine suspense, with lyrical prose. Sharply etched characters further enrich this story of tangled relationships and dark secrets. Twelve years after their divorce, Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid receives a phone call from his ex-wife Victoria asking for his help.

I love this series
Revisado: 12-22-23
I really love this series and the previous books narration was really good. Something about the way the narrator portrays Kincaid voice makes him sound like a pompous closed minded cold man. The previous stories were really narrated good but this one made it hard to feel sympathetic to him.

The narrator drove me crazy
Revisado: 01-12-23
The story was well written and the characters were well developed but the way the narrator performed the main character was not very good. It seemed cold and too drab and she had a way of speaking with the same inflection no matter what the character said. It was a pretty good story though.

Revisado: 01-06-23
Patricia Wentworth books, in my opinion, are well written and the stories have good plot, character development and a realistic feel to them. They keep you guessing until the end and I love that about them. I’m working my way through all of them.
