Historia
Let Us Descend describes a journey from the rice fields of the Carolinas to the slave markets of New Orleans and into the fearsome heart of a Louisiana sugar plantation. A journey that is as beautifully rendered as it is heart wrenching, the novel is “[t]he literary equivalent of an open wound from which poetry pours” (NPR). Annis, sold south by the white enslaver who fathered her, is the listener’s guide. As she struggles through the miles-long march, Annis turns inward, seeking comfort from memories of her mother and stories of her African warrior grandmother.

Best Read in a Lifetime
Revisado: 02-23-24
A mixture of gut wrenching prose and tragic storytelling. Azza her spiritual companion can either be her delusional imagination or spirit brought to life to witness the tragical Atlantic Crossing.
It is books like this that would be a loss if critical race theory falls victim to cancel culture. We all need to read this book.

"Thoroughly impressed. I think fans of WJ Lundy, Shawn Chesser, and Bobby Adair will love this one." -James Cook, author of the Surviving the Dead series Can the world's biggest smart-ass survive the apocalypse? All the news channels can talk about is the Red Flu, a nasty strain that came out of nowhere to wreak havoc on the population. There's also something the government isn't telling the public about the Red Flu- both the secret of its true effects, and exactly how it spreads. Brody Tate doesn't care. He's a young smart-ass living in New York City, locked in a dead-end job. His only ...

The audio voice lacks any emotion that is only a human voice can do. When emphasize certain words etc. voice was pleasant but monotonous.
Story was good and I loved the NY setting for a change. Hope the story can done by a better reader.

Sarah Mais genius author
Revisado: 02-13-24
This author is on parallel to Robert Jordon author of Wheel of Tine. Her ability to create these complex, strong female characters is second to none. I thought the Crescent story could not be as good as her previous series but I was wrong.
The action, suspense, and yes humor that is laced through out her writing keeps you hooked like a junkie reading.
Keep writing Sarah, I look forward to keep reading and thanks for brining back one of my favorites, Nesta, I hope to see more of that team.

Historia
Years after the outbreak of a mysterious pandemic, hardly any survivors are left in the quarantined wasteland of North America. Hunger and the menace of man-eaters are nothing compared to the ferals–those who were infected and mutated by the virus. The ferals have an unquenchable need to hunt and kill, and even a single bite will quickly transform human into a rabid beast. Two survivors, the pregnant Megan and her brother David, leave a deserted colony to seek a safer haven.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Overwhelmingly poignant
Revisado: 01-13-23
Harry is so much more than the media has tried to make him out to be. Such a brutally honest, heartfelt tale of a boy who had to learn to be a man while living in a fish bowl. The cruelty of the press, the fearful apathy of his family actually brought tears to my eyes and I am not a crier. I highly recommend this book as a must read not as a gossip filled rag book but to open our eyes to see how we are all manipulated by media and how truly dystopian our society has become. I wish him, Meghan and their children success and most of all peace.
I actually sat up until 3am because I was so riveted by this tale of young Harry

Historia
It started in the Middle East. A flu-like plague that infected thousands and killed roughly 10 percent of its victims. Those who died awoke once again, but they were no longer among the living - they came back as soulless, carnivorous corpses who desired only one thing: to feed on living human flesh. The citizens of Single Tree, California, want the stenches and those fleeing them to ignore the town long enough for it to be transformed.... But time is not on their side.

Racist, homophonic,Democrat hating
Revisado: 01-08-23
Ok after reading this I can see where this book could be distasteful for a black female immigrant like myself. Pity the author used the stereotypical left leaning characters to illustrate his point of view. Pity because the plot could have been a good one despite the multitude of holes. I would hope at the end of the world we could overlook our politics and come together.
Character development was fair but why characterize the women as either sluts weaklings or fat. That tells me our fair author is also misogynistic.
Lots of people thought the narrator was lacking but I loved him

Historia
Lauren Russell, her family, and the community of Trout Run Valley had been blessed with a workable blueprint for overcoming nearly insurmountable odds - odds that had been surmounted against them, and others like them, since the blackout, subsequent decline of society, and the world's devolution. The aftermath of the most recent onslaught, a ruthless attack by a menacing enemy, had left them reeling in its wake, leaving a once-sustainable food supply damaged beyond repair and two of their own senselessly murdered.

Who is this book targeting
Revisado: 10-08-22
I love Post Apocalypse books but the political tenor of this books tells me it is a thinly veiled propaganda series aimed at instigating a motive for the conspiracy loving Patriots in our society. Loved the way the religious nuggets were slung in too. I can just hear the narrative now. The Liberal left hates God and is conspiring to enslave freedom loving, gun slinging Patriots and end their American way of life.
What I don’t understand is if the author really believes this crap or is profiteering from intentionally hitting hot buttons to rile up the masses. Shame on you

Revisado: 08-19-22
If you like books with characters that leave you spellbound then this book is for you. If you like books that transports you through time and a place, where you can see and hear the setting then this book is for you. If you a mystery where you can not anticipate the ending until the end of the book then this book is definitely for you.
Kerry Young is a superior and skillful writer and she certainly knows how to bring people, places and time periods to life. I have read Pao and I was amazed but Gloria has left me dumbstruck.
