Historia
A shadowy master criminal has been kidnapping experts from the food industry and stealing both food and equipment. The crimes are so unrelated no one in the world had noticed the connections. No one except Albert Smith, that is. He’s got almost nothing to go on, but with every place he visits, he gets just a little closer to the truth. He’s not working alone though, his faithful sidekick, Rex Harrison the former police dog is right there with him. Can the two of them pull off the impossible and find the man Albert chose to dub ‘the Gastrothief’?

It is with great sadness....
Revisado: 05-08-25
....that I have finished all 15 of Albert Smiths Culinary Capers. They had me anxious and biting my nails, then laughing out loud and all at the same time. Loved the communication (or lack of) between Rex and Albert, as well as Rex and cats, other dogs, seagulls, & seals. Well done Mr. Higgs!

Sins of the Wolf is the best of the 1st 5 books I have read in this series. I've given 5 stars to all of them, but this one stands out. Great characters that you really care about and want to protect. Hoping books 6 though 8 are available on Audible soon.

Years before the Great War summoned Bess Crawford to serve as a battlefield nurse, the indomitable heroine spent her childhood in India under the watchful eye of her friend and confidant, the young soldier Simon Brandon. The two formed an inseparable bond on the dangerous Northwest Frontier where her father’s Regiment held the Khyber Pass against all intruders. Wow! What a great book! I’ve enjoyed 4 of the Bess Crawford books by Charles Todd and will continue with the series. A Hanging at Dawn sheds some light on her childhood and family history. A stand alone novel for sure if you haven’t read any of the others in the series.

Historia
Private Enquiry agent Cyrus Barker, along with his partner Thomas Llewelyn, has a long, accomplished history—he's taken on cases for Scotland Yard, the Foreign Office, and even the crown itself, fulfilling them all with great skill and discretion. None of those cases, however, are as delicate and complicated as the one laid before him by a delegation of men who, thirty years before, fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War.

She's just watching, thinking about it again, when a big flash car pulls up outside. No one gets out. Then the doors of the bar open and people appear. Two men and a youngish woman, and one of the men has a hold on the woman's arm. It looks as if they're having words. Then this all happens quickly—they push the woman towards the car, one of the back doors opens, and they manhandle her inside. Sarah hears a muffled shout from the woman and the car pulls away. It's all over in a few seconds.
